We Love Our Lucy

While Lucy is definitely aging, she still has bursts of energy and loves to run off leash.  We take her to an uncrowded park so she can run.  Afterwards she is exhausted but very happy.

Waiting for the leash to come off.
Eagerly anticipating running free.

Lucy does not think about politics, or world events.  She lives in the here and now and enjoys almost all of it.  She has a regular schedule and like most old folks, she does not like for it to be interrupted.  Sometimes when I get caught up in the world's problems, I wish I could be more like her and live in the moment and enjoy what is rather than worrying about what is not.  I do try.

Today's quote comes from Emily Dickinson:

"Find ecstasy in life;
The mere sense of living is joy enough."

HAVE A WONDERFUL WEEKEND
FIND JOY IN YOUR LIFE

Emily and Lucy are very wise - too bad it's much harder than it looks!

It's so important to find joy in our life, and so often it can come from the simplest things.

I think at times we all enjoy running free, or feeling the grass beneath our feet!
Wonderful.

Enjoy this last day of August and Happy September Wishes

All the best Jan

Hope you all have a happy labor day...great to see your beautiful Lucy and know she's enjoying life. I think being around animals keeps us in tune with that sense of 'being present.'

Isn't it great they have no idea what is going on? I too envy them. Maybe we need to run more.

Ah yes, living in the here and now. Wish we could all do that. Sometimes when Roger and I are out walking at the marsh or at the beach, we start to talk about politics and we have to stop ourselves and remember why we're walking. Trying to live in the here and now.

Being Present sounds like a lot of Zen Speak, but it's really an important LifeSkill now. Whatever I can do to stay in the Now and appreciate my real life is keeping me sane. It sounds like you're doing the same thing.

It is so much fun to watch our pups run off-leash, roll in the grass, chew on sticks and put their snouts into the wind and take a good sniff. They help us stay in the here and now, and find our little bit of joy. Lucy looks marvelous!

I think Lucy is lucky! :)

We've had several dogs who were Zen Masters.

Lucy is a very lucky girl to have you and your husband as her humans. I, too, try to be more like my dogs. Sometimes I succeed and sometimes I don't. It's hard not to be upset about the state of our country.

I love the Dickinson quote … I need to practice that.

Yes dear Lucy, living in the here and now. If only we could all do that.
I am learning and enjoying.

Thanks for your comments, everyone.

Bug - Yes, it's much harder for us than for our pets.

Jan - You are so right. Running free now and then is good for the soul.

Barbara - I think you are right.

Patti - Yes, it must be wonderful to wake up to a new day every single day.

Robin - We do the same thing. One of us will say, "why are we wasting time on this?" Let's change the subject.

Nance - I do try. But like the saying goes, "I try to be nice, but everyone is so stupid."

Tara - Yes, they are so funny rolling and playing like puppies.

Far Side - I hope your lovely Chance is doing well.

Vicki - Lucky for you. And now you have Josie along with the animals to keep you grounded.

KB - In these times I think most of us try to forget what's going on and think like our pets.

Ginnie - I like it too. But it is a bit hard to follow all the time.

Cheryl - Learning and enjoying are two very important lessons that are ongoing.
