We Love Lucy

Our Lucy does not like to have her picture taken.  Most especially she does not like to be told to "sit" in order to get the shot.  On these occasions, she does not look at the camera.  And she does not smile.  She doesn't mind the "sit" command if we are walking and another person passes, or if we stop to talk with someone along the way.  But being told to sit when there doesn't appear to be any reason whatsoever is something she seems to resent.  It's as if she were saying, "This is ridiculous.  There is no reason to have to sit in my own yard."

At first she doesn't even acknowledge that I am there

Still not looking at me and still not smiling

Oh, all right.  I'm looking at you.  And that's all you're going to get.
Can I go now?

She reminds me a bit of my son when he was a little boy.  Although Lucy didn't actually glare at me.

It's the last day of February and a crazy month is has been.  We are really enjoying the longer hours of daylight and we know that whatever the weather brings, it won't last too long.

Our quote for today is from Charles Dickens:
"It was one of those March days when the sun shines hot and the wind blows cold:
When it is summer in the light, and winter in the shade."

HAVE A SAFE AND HAPPY WEEKEND, THIS FIRST WEEKEND OF MARCH!

Thanks for the chuckles! The look from Lucy followed by your son's glare is priceless. We're in the deep freeze again in OH, with a half foot (or more) of snow in the forecast. March is coming in like an abominable snowlion!

Funny! Nothing sunny about the son shot, but he's still darned cute. :) And lovely Lucy has SUCH a mind of her own. Good thing you weren't planning a career for her as a show dog.

What a delightful series. Such a character she is and definitely of her own mind.
Can so relate to your son. I was a glarer as a youngster too. Hope he outgrew it also.

The juxtaposition of those last two photos made me laugh out loud. I agree - Lucy and your son share a similar attitude toward the camera!

Enjoy your weekend!

Lucy does seem a bit aloof for photos. Are you sure she's not part cat?

Love the new header photo!

Wonder how we would know when our pets are actually smiling? Of corse, with humans it's so much easier to know as you have shown us. Hope the weekend is great,

Smile or no smile, she is a beautiful dog.

We had a very light dusting yesterday, a reminder that spring may be around the corner, but it isn't here yet.

Lucy is such a beautiful dog, it would be nice if she would give you a little smile for at least one photo!

Monty is like that. He used to pose for the camera when Sam was there, because he wanted to do everything Sam did. Now we can't get him to do it, or he looks miserable, or he just walks away - which is why there is very little Monty on the blog these days.

I love Lucy's dignity!Your son is doing what we in this house, always called The Look. And the Dickens' quote is so appropriate.

Thanks for your comments, everyone.

Linthead - It has been such a miserable winter in the Midwest.

Merrily - Believe it or not, the breeder kept her sister for a show dog.

Patti - He did indeed.

Beatrice - Yes, they do actually smile real smiles.

Sam - Lucy has never liked to pose for the camera, but like Monty she seems less inclined since we lost Ellie.

Vicki - Yes, she does give us "the look."
