LIFE'S BETTER IN THE MOUNTAINS

Remembering Golden Fridays

It's been three months since Ellie died and I miss her every day.  I still find myself talking about the "girls" as if we still had two dogs.

Ellie and Lucy were always together.  One hardly found one dog without the other a few feet away.

Running together

Wrestling together

Resting together

Snoozing in the sun together

Every now and then I grab two "crate yummies" when I put Lucy to bed.  My husband occasionally dips out two cups of food at dinner.  And we remember how much joy Ellie gave to us and what a good life she lived.

The year is speeding past.  We can enjoy the sun longer each day.  And in two weeks we will switch to Daylight Savings Time.  Wish we could put a stop to Daylight Time and let Mother Nature dictate the timing of the day and night.

Today's quote is from Victor Hugo:

Winter is on my head,
But eternal Spring is in my heart.

HAVE A WONDERFUL AND SAFE WEEKEND, EVERYONE!!!

Time really does seem to speed by these days. Hard to imagine that Ellie has been gone three months. Even those of us who never met her miss her.

Beautiful quote, and I too wish we would put an end to daylight savings time.

I'm the same way with Sam. Monty and Sam were a pair - Monty is so lost without Sam. Sending hugs...

I'm sure you will always miss her forever!

I can't believe in two weeks the clocks go back. I dislike DST with a passion and I'm with you, let Mother Nature and the normal flow of things guide our clocks! I don't think my internal clock ever adjusts.

Thanks for the poignant pictures. I miss them both too.

Hi there, I so understand how hard it is to go from two dogs to one-when we lost our heart dog Sadie, I didn't know how I'd ever love another dog again. At that time, Reggie got quite spoiled. Now we have Hunter and at times I think we should have a companion for him.
Thanks for sharing today!
Hugs, Noreen

I miss her too. I use to so look forward to the weekly Golden fix. Those two were so loving and devoted, it gave one hope that maybe we all could get along.

Makes me sad & happy to see them running around together...

I LOVE DST & wish we could have it all year. More light after I get home from work? YES please!

Thanks for posting the lovely pictures of both your goldens. I never get tired of seeing them. As long as one remembers Ellie, she will never really die.

Sending you lots of hugs. It's so hard... I do love the flashback photos, though.

I agreed with what you wrote 100% in a comment on my blog about the mountain lions killing dogs. All it takes is effort to protect your dogs and many people won't make that extra effort. It seems wrong, very wrong, especially with the losses that we've both had despite our best efforts. I didn't come right out and say that on my blog because I feared that one of the people who had lost a dog to a lion might read my blog... and I didn't want to pour salt in their wounds.

I actually love Daylight Savings Time... but the Runner hates it. You and he could form a club of 2 :)

Thank you for sharing your memories.
It has been almost 2 years since my Samantha's passing. I think of her everyday. When my 3-yr-old plays with June, I can't help but think how much fun they could have had together. Samantha was a more playful dog, June only has her moments when she wants to play.
Sometimes I find myself writing "we" when I write a blog post about June.

Thanks for your comments, everyone.

Bug - I don't care if they keep Daylight Time or Standard Time. So I would be happy for you to have Daylight Time year-round with no change.

Beautiful dogs GOldens, inside and out. I love how they rub against you and demand attention.

I hope after you give Ellie a proper mourning period, you share your home with another companion.

These made me tear up. I'm moving over to your husband's side about Lucy needing a new brother or sister.

It's the opposite here. Whenever I mention that our Girl Scout needs a pal, my Dearly Beloved insists that she has one: him.
