We have several pairs of Cardinals living in our woods. They are early visitors to the feeders and the last to visit in the evenings. We have been lucky enough to see them bringing their little ones to our deck, first to feed them and then to teach them how to feed themselves.
Brilliant red, even in mid-winter this male is looking right at me

We love all the birds who pass by. But we especially love those who share our woods year round. And bring a bit of color amid the bare trees.

I do love them so! Who's the pretty boy? You are! The girl cardinals are so pretty, as well, just not so gaudy as the boys. Thanks for sharing!
Aren't they gorgeous? I never tire of watching the Cardinals either.
We get excited when we see them, too. My husband and I call to each other to COME LOOK AT THE CARDINAL! like we've never seen one before.
I love these birds and so wish we had them here in Colorado.
Hope you have a warm afternoon and evening.
Hugs, Noreen
So handsome! We have a gorgeous blue jay that keeps coming around, but it's so shy I can't get a photo of it. I sure wish I could get our cardinal and the blue jay in a frame together, that would be something!
We don't have any birds quite that bright here in winter. What a beautiful sight!
The beautiful cardinal looked really cool.... :) . Similar bird brownish in colour is called "burung candik" in Malaysia....
Gorgeous birds, like heartbeats in the sky.
Lovely shot - our cardinals are so easily spooked that I am not able to get close enough for a shot.

Cardinals almost make winter worth it :)
Thanks for your comments, everyone. We do love the cardinals and are amazed at how each is a little different.
Ms. Goodneedle, Bangchik and Kakdah - Thanks for dropping by.
We are grateful that the cardinal is the state bird of Virginia, where we currently live, but are happy sharing this colorful bird with other states.
I love them too; so bright and cheery!
