LIFE'S BETTER IN THE MOUNTAINS

Fridays are Golden

It's been a quiet week for us. We are finally having some "normal" weather with cool nights, warm days, and afternoon thunderstorms. The Golden Girls are energized by the brisk mornings and they romp and play until they are tired.

When it's time to relax, Lucy waits for Ellie to lie down. Then she goes over to lie on the same bed. I don't think Ellie really likes it, but it seems too much bother to get up and move. Besides, she was there first.

Other times Lucy relaxes in rather odd positions. I don't understand how the hard rung of the chair could be a comfortable pillow but it seems to suit her just fine.

The following photograph is for my daughter who always brings new toys when she visits. This one was supposed to make a very funny picture for my blog, but no matter how hard we tried, neither dog would put it properly in her mouth. I fear, dear daughter, that this may be the best we can do.

As I look out the window, I can see that the trees are beginning to lose their glossy green and are becoming a bit dusky. A sure sign that summer is ending and fall is on the way. I'm looking forward to the migration and do hope we catch the Rose-breasted Grosbeaks we missed during spring migration.

While this week has been quiet for us here on the mountain, it has been far from quiet throughout the rest of the country and the world. Spend some time this weekend thinking of those in need. Spend less time feeling sorry for yourself and reflect more on those who are suffering at levels we cannot even imagine.
HAVE A SAFE AND WONDERFUL WEEKEND!

Hi Carolyn, Your babies are just so cute. Love seeing Lucy using the chair rim as a pillow.... Mercy!!!!

Our weather is so fall-like this week too--and I am SO ready for Autumn. I know this is a tease though and that we'll have more hot weather before it gets here. But--I'll enjoy this while we have it.

In fact, we're headed to the Smokies for the day today... Should be fun.

Have a great weekend.
Hugs,
Betsy

I have always wondered how life is on the mountain. I like your words of wisdom at the end of this write. Beautifully said. Keep it up. God bless.

Except for Ziva, who is now my all-time favorite dog, I do love your golden girls.

The golden girls never fail to make me smile. They are adorable....truly so.

Your words touch the heart....indeed, the suffering out there, none of us can begin to imagine.

May your weekend be a peaceful one......

Glad for a week that was fairly ordinary. Good advice to check out thinking about those in need!

the mustache is pretty funny - even askew.

are leaves are turning dusky as well - just noticed yesterday. The apple tree is just about ready for picking.

I will indeed think of those in need, monetary, structural, emotional, spiritual. So much out there. I know as I putter in my garden enjoying the flowers and the trees that I happened to draw a high card this time around.

I just found your blog and I just love your Golden Girls. I have one myself, and now I think, oh, wouldn't it be fun to have another. Except that we already have a Dachshund and a Jack Russell, and 3 dogs is all we are allowed in our city..... But I do love to see yours together. Ours is the youngest of the 'pack' and since she was raised with the other two, she thinks she is part Dachsie and part Jack Russell. She did, however, teach the Jack Russell to retreive. They learn so much from each other. We love them all, but our Golden has shown us how narcisistic the two littles are - she tries so hard to please us while they try so hard to please themselves :)
I am going to go through your archives and enjoy myself - thanks!

Hello! A crazy hectic week has put me behind on my blog-reading and I've enjoyed reading your posts this week. Your friend Vera sounds like a true gem, and a lovely lady! Thanks for sharing her with us, and the fun pictures of your girls that without question are delightful too!! Thanks for the advice for the weekend--I hope you enjoy yours!

Great job with the mustache!

It's funny - our dogs are similar. One would actually prefer to lie alone but the younger one insists on being close...

I agree with your closing. Plus, I think that we need to all think about tolerance and the freedoms that our country's constitution was based upon.

I agree - autumn is on the way!

We are getting those delicious hints of fall and it is wonderful!

I think your girls are way too dignified for the mustache thing.

Please send the Rose-breasted Grosbeaks on to me in CO when they visit you. I love the Groucho Marx photo! Glad you're experiencing some cooling temps.

They like those new beds?

Love Ms. Mustachio photo.

They're soooo pretty and look so sweet! I wish you'd take photos of the doghair so I wouldn't be so tempted!

Amen Carolyn. Hope you all have a great weekend too, and hope I also catch those Grosbeaks on their way south.

I love that last photo! Once again, though it's Saturday now, I've enjoyed a smile or two with a Fridays are Golden post. Thanks for that!

It has been a fairly pleasant week, though we are still waiting on that first frost - grins.

Lucy looks as if she could get comfortable in just about any position. Although it is hot and humid today, we've enjoyed some nice, cool nights. It's great to have the house open again.
I hope you're having a great weekend.

So cute to see Lucy resting on the chair! Loved that moustache - that does make for a funny photo. Hoping you get to see some grosbeaks too! Seems like my males have moved on and I just have the females now at my feeder.

Cute mustache! I think it looks pretty good on her. LOL
I need one of those for my critters. Wouldn't it be funny on a smaller dog or a horse?
I always try to keep others in my thoughts and prayers, but sometimes forget when I get caught up in my world.
Thanks for the reminder!
