LIFE'S BETTER IN THE MOUNTAINS

Fridays are Golden

I thought you might enjoy seeing Ellie and Lucy when they were younger. This is a studio shot of them when Lucy was four months old and Ellie was two.

Their basic personalities shine through this photograph. Ellie is looking at me as if to say, "Is this all right, Mom? Am I doing it right? Oh, I hope I'm doing it right. I've never done this and I'm a little nervous." Lucy, on the other hand, is looking at the photographer as if to say, "Am I in the center? Is this my best side? Don't forget I'm the most important. This is what the people came to see."

We had a repairman in the house yesterday. He kept going outside for materials and coming back inside. For a while the girls followed him from the door to the stairs; then waited for him to come back down. Finally bored of watching and following him, the girls found better spots.

Ellie chose the floor near the hallway.

Lucy decided she might as well be more comfortable, so she chose one of the beds.

We had several inches of rain last week. Normally we would have hiked to one of the waterfalls to see the increased flow. However, we missed a week or so of driving on the Blue Ridge Parkway so we decided to drive up there. We weren't disappointed. Spring is definitely emerging at the higher elevations. What a treat! I'll share more pictures next week, but this will whet your appetitite.

This weekend is Mother's Day. I believe it is a day to celebrate women, mothers or not. If you have a mother, grandmother, aunt, or special woman who helped shape your life, tell her so. Let her know how much she means to you.
Have a wonderful weekend. Play, laugh, and love those around you. Tell your friends and loved ones how much you really care for them.

What a beautiful picture of the girls when they were young. I've thought about having a professional photo taken of my girl.

Very funny about the delivery man too. What good girls Ellie and Lucy are.

That picture of the mountains is just gorgeous. I said it once, I'll say it again.. you live in a beautiful place!

Have a great weekend and a happy Mother's Day!

You certainly got into their heads in that studio shot. I'll bet that was EXACTLY what they were thinking! Love the girls!

That studio shot captures them perfectly! Whenever we have a repairman in the house, Z thinks "Aha! Someone has come to play fetch!" And he brings them a toy to throw. And if that one doesn't work, he brings another one and another one. I'll always remember the guy sealing our fireplace, engrossed in his work and unaware, but surrounded by a half-moon of about a dozen dog toys and one very hopeful looking dog.

I love seeing your beautiful girls! The studio shot is perfect! I can't believe they cooperated so well. Lilly hates to have her picture taken and rarely cooperates for the camera.

Say what you need to say.

What a beautiful highway. Drove it twice and was simply astounded by its beauty both times.

And there's just nothing better than dogs. Nuthin'!

Aww--puppy photos. Sweet.
Wow--a workman who can go in and out and not get barked at?
Our one overly protective dog barks constantly, until she can get a good sniff of the workman. It's almost embarassing--she gives them such a once over.

It's been said that all that is gold does not glitter, but in this case it does. Your dogs are beautiful-so are your mountains.

Happy Mother's Day!

Just catching up on your week of interesting posts. The view across your mountains is so beautiful. I thought the fall pictures could not be improved upon, but I like the spring greens so much. And your girls..they are always so elegant and beautiful too.

Wooo - Stumbled onto your blog while reading comments on someone else's blog. We are from Maggie Valley and trying to dry out from all of the rain this week! Great picture from the parkway (and of the Goldens of course).

Wonderful photos. I love the puppy photo and the mountain photo. Seeing green spring-like mountains is a real treat. And, I always admire the current photos of your beautiful girls!

Our dogs are always convinced that the repairmen have arrived to visit them and shouldn't do anything else except play with them!

I love pictures of smiling dogs! Your sweeties look like great friends.
Congratulations on at least having your kids, if not close by, at least on the same route, so to speak. We have one in Indianpolis, too (LONG DRIVE!) but the others are in different directions. We've lived in Wisconsin, but are back in NC now--not in the cool mountains though. I hope you like it here!
