LIFE'S BETTER IN THE MOUNTAINS

Sunny Lucy Friday

We had a couple of misty and cloudy days but for the most part we have had sunny and beautiful weather.  Spring has come downtown but still a bit behind here on the mountain.  The forsythia is blooming, and the Lenten Roses (spring helebores) are blooming.  The pierus is blooming and many of the trees are budding.  A light jacket will suffice and I am delighted to see another spring.

Lucy is about the same, certainly not any worse.  She developed a small irritated spot on her paw so we ordered some larger boots so we could put a small and soft dressing on the area,  She is adapting to the lameness and seems to walk better.  The biggest problem is that much of the great room is hardwood with a large rug in the living area and a long one in the hallway.  She seems to understand that she cannot navigate the stairs but we keep a gate there as a reminder.

She is definitely less active and we have changed her diet and feeding to accommodate for that.

She lies down more even if she doesn't sleep.

My son identified with Tigger as a young boy.  (You know, bouncy, trouncy, flouncy, pouncy, fun fun fun fun fun).  His "loveys" were a blanket and a small Winnie-the-Pooh which I had saved and sent to him when he brought Violet home.  I decided to send a Tigger as well.

As you can tell in the following photograph, Tigger was substantially bigger than Violet.  (My son assured me he removed the toy as soon as he took the picture.)

Little Violet and Tigger

While Tigger has remained the same size, Little Miss Violet has continued to grow and thrive.

Sometimes a mom has to cuddle her child while she feeds herself breakfast.

Sometimes we get so caught up in worldly things that we forget some of the basic truths of life.

Today's quote is from Marcus Aurelius:
"When you arise in the morning,
Think of what a precious privilege it is to be alive,
To breathe, to think, to enjoy, to love."

So don't waste your time hating and screaming about injustice.  If you can do something to change it, then do it.  But if you cannot, then focus on your own life and happiness.

HAVE A GREAT WEEK, EVERYONE

FOCUS ON HOW PRECIOUS LIFE IS

REACH OUT TO HELP OTHERS

WE ARE ONE WORLD, ONE PEOPLE

A lovely tribute to your two little ones...may Lucy continue to have the same love for you and have a comfortable time that she has left...especially since you are taking such good care of her. Tigger and Vi are just precious as can be. I hope she is also a bouncy little one.

I love your quote and sentiments. I loved all the Pooh characters (still do) and Lindsay had stuffed versions of all-I've saved them for my future Violet. She's such a doll!!
I'm happy the weather is becoming nicer for you all and big hugs to your sweet Lucy.

Violet is adorable with Tigger - in both photos. Yes, we are lucky to be awake and breathing and just the existence of folks like you helps to make the rest bearable!

Love Violet and Tigger sharing a meal. Nothing like your first best friend.
Hope you are spared the storms we just had. Callie is still shaking.

Wonderful quotes with thoughts we should all keep in mind, all the time. Life is indeed too short not to enjoy it to the fullest and to help others whenever possible. Many folks think they need to do grand gestures, but just a simple thing like a Hello or holding open a door for someone are acts of kindness everyone can do all the time. Glad to read that Lucy and everyone are finally enjoying the sunshine. Violet is a good little "mom" to Tigger.

Very wise advice.
So sweet to see children cuddling their favourite toys with such affection. They don't hesitate to reach out for comfort, do they?

It's so lovely to see Violet and her friend Tigger, as Violet grows older and gets bigger. And Lucy is always so loved and cared for. This is life.

I love your quote. It is a good reminder as we all get too preoccupied with the details of life, forgetting about the miraculous parts of it. I'm glad that you're feeling so good, and that Lucy gets to lie in the sunshine.

o sweet! That nurturing thing seems to be inbuilt. I love seems Josie pick up a doll or stuffed animal and cuddle it. And what good advice in your quotes. Spring is an especially good time to pay attention to the little everyday miracles outside our doors.

Tigger has been a favorite Pooh character and love your photos. Sentiments are certainly pertinent. Thinking of Lucy.

Thanks for your comments, everyone.

Barbara - Yes, she is as bouncy as her father was.

Suz - Our daughter was (and is) a big fan of Eeyore.

Bug - Well said!

Patti - We did have some midnight boomers but not a lot of rain.

Beatrice - You are so right. It's the "small" things that really make a difference.

Nance - Yes, they seem to understand the need for hugs.

Robin - It is. And too often we take it for granted.

KB - Somehow I think those of us with dogs learn to live in the now better than others.

Donna - She seems to rotate her love for certain stuffed animals and will hold one for a couple of days and then move on to another. The exception is her dolly who must be in bed with her every time.

Vicki - And there are so many little miracles. I think Josie and Violet have both been given a lot of cuddling and that makes a big difference.

Troutbirder - Living with your current situation, you have certainly made you focus on the little things that make Ms T and you happy.

Joared - Thanks. I must admit Eeyore was my favorite character, followed by Owl.
