There are lots of jokes about the rain and flooding. What else can you do? This was one of my favorites:
Amidst the rains, we did indeed have a few hours of sunshine every now and then and Lucy took advantage of them. We are leaving her boots off a bit more since she has a very small irritated spot on her injured leg. We think it's likely due to the fact that her boots get wet every time she goes out so we have to change them more often that we would like. We have found a very nice dry shampoo for dogs that has a slight blood orange scent. Using that makes her coat look and smell much better.
Lucy on a rare bit of sunshine.
Like all toddlers, our Violet continues to grow and learn. Her father takes her all over the city to the library and the many museums there. Her favorite by far is the marvelous Children's Museum. So full of age-appropriate places and things to do. Certain areas are cordoned off for crawling babies, some for toddlers and much of the museum is for anyone. One of Violet's favorite places (besides the water pool, of course) has light switches that illuminate different objects on a large board. Perfect for a little one who loves the mechanics of things. Another great benefit of the museum is that she interacts with other children there. Especially important for a child who does not attend day care.
I know I'm a bit biased. But isn't that a lovely, sweet smile?
And it's not even for the camera. It's for another child.
And it's not even for the camera. It's for another child.
Today's quotes are about happiness. In the stress of life we all too often let it slip away from us.
The first is from Omar Khayyam:
"Be happy for this moment.
This moment is your life."
The second is from the Buddha:
"Thousands of candles can be lighted from a single candle,
And the life of the candle will not be shortened.
Happiness never decreases by being shared."
HAVE A WONDERFUL WEEK, EVERYONE
BE HAPPY
IT MAKES LIFE SO MUCH EASIER

Your Vi is simply the cutest little girl in the world! I'm very happy for Lucy to have new shampoo too, and a few moments with sunshine. Yay.
Yes, she has a lovely smile and that complexion !! I'm supposed to get a new roof and have no idea when they can start with all this rain.
I think Violet is both precious and beautiful, and I know she's such a blessing to your family! How wonderful that she gets to have a fun place to explore!
We had a thunderstorm here the other night with vivid lightning. I was trying to think if the formula was to count the seconds after the lightning until the thunder or the other way around. Then I decided to simply be grateful it wasn't snow.
Which we got last night. Sigh.
Ah well. It cannot last forever, right? ;-)
Interesting that the master bedroom has to go dark during a thunderstorm. I've never heard of rules like that. A battery powered clock sound like the right way to go. Yes, Vi's smile is lovely and sweet. She really looks so happy and full of love. Always good to see Lucy too!
Ha had, sorry about those storms we keep sending you. Honest, we do dry to take the worst of the bite out of them. We have a week of sunshine that we are sending your way. Enjoy.
Love the blissed out Lucy and I know she will be glad when the rains quit.
Vi looks positively delighted. What a joy she is.
I am amazed at some of the dumb things that are included in come building codes. Things that make you go huh?
Well for sure about the building code. My own person rule, on such rule is "if your only breaking one of them a month, your not trying hard enough"...:)
Lucy looks so utterly beautiful and content in that photo in the sunshine. We also once had a dog who dragged her hind paws... and staying ahead of the sores under her boots was a challenge. We finally just always took them off in the house, and that seemed to solve the problem but I know that every dog and situation is different.
Violet's smile is indeed incredibly sweet!
The building code standard takes the cake on dumb ideas!!
Violet is a sweet young lady with an amazing father. I'd be interested to know what the dry shampoo is; Cocoa isn't feeling great and therefore we've not tortured her with a bath. (she's pretty stinky!!)
I hope you have more sunshiny days than rainy ones.
What a precious thing Violet is! And what good quotes you chose.
We should all be happy for the life we have and try to enjoy it more fully, I wholeheartedly agree! Sorry to hear about the continuing downpours that are in your area. Lucy knows how to relax in a sunny spot and Violet is a lovely child.
Thanks for your comments, everyone.
Barbara - Oh yes, we all appreciate the sun after all the rain.
Ginnie - The old conundrum---we need to fix the roof but can't because it's raining. Hope you are getting some sunshine by now.
Kim - She is indeed a blessing. Our son takes her to all the museums and the zoo as well as a playground.
Nance - So sorry you got snow again. Hope that is the last of it.
Robin - The code makes no sense at all. The clock radio does have a place for a battery but I just never put one in.
Patti - Thanks for finally sending us some sunshine.
Gene - Yes. I couldn't believe it either.
Ray - Sometimes I think the codes are done to make more work available for the inspectors.
KB - We have hardwood floors with rugs. So it is more difficult for her to get up if she is lying on the hardwood. We did order some larger size boots so we're hoping that will help.
Suz - So sorry to hear about your dear Cocoa.
Vicki - Thanks
Beatrice - Yes, life is going to proceed if we are happy or not. So best to be happy.
