Lucy looks out the open door wanting us to get in the car and go.
Two happy Goldens, running in tandem.
Look at that smile!
Ellie sits for a minute to catch her breath. The smile doesn't leave her face.
North Carolina is called the Tar Heel State. (I'll have to write about that sometime.) UNC Chapel Hill (which is the REAL University of North Carolina) sports teams are the Tar Heels. Their team color is sky blue.
So we say around here, "You know that God is a Tar Heel because he made the sky Carolina Blue."
We have had these gorgeous blue skies and unbelievably warm weather all week (along with the occasional thunderstorm). It looks and feels much more like late April than mid-March. The bears have been foraging for weeks now. The fruit trees are blooming and some of the farms in the middle of the state already have strawberries. Our average latest frost in Transylvania County is in early May and we have had significant freezing weather in April. A hard freeze next month will be devastating for some of the apple crop.
Speaking of politics, Newt Gingrich made a statement last week that Romney was not a certainty as the GOP presidential candidate. He noted that he and Santorum together have a lot of delegates to take to the GOP convention. To which Jon Stewart quipped, "Yeah. And me and LaBron together made 36 points."
Our quote for the week is again from Marcus Aurelius:
The object of life is not to be on the side of the majority, but to escape finding oneself in the ranks of the insane.
HAVE A GOLDEN WEEKEND, EVERYONE!

Those golden girls sure do know how to have fun! Love the pics!! Have a wonderful weekend!
The golden girls are a joy to behold. I wish I could run and smile at the same time....it is one or the other these days :)
Unfortunately the weather seems to be erratic worldwide.
I do so hope you escape the frost in April.
We are in drought......most unusual, the farmers are extremely worried as water levels are low right across the SE. It is causing great concern at the moment.
They are saying we need weeks of rain to bring water levels back to normal.
It's been beautiful here, too, but the storms last night were awful. There was much devastation to look at this morning. It totally skirted my town and for that I'm thankful.
I love Jon Stewart.
Oh MOST excellent & timely quote! And I love Jon Stewart too :)
Um, FYI? The Tarheels aren't really all that you know. Why, NC State is a great school too. Just maybe not in basketball these days. Oh Jimmy V where are you when we need you?
I like your "object of life" quote. I do believe the object of the long election season is to make people accept anyone who gets the job just as long as the campaigning and endless punditry are finally over!
Good quote from Marcus Aurelius. Also liked the words of Jon Stewart. What a grand day for the Golden Girls -- barbara
Newt is a pompous a** and Jon Stewart is a riot.
Dogs love going for a ride. Happy puppies.
those girls and those blue skies make me happy, all the way across the country. It's pissing down rain here, and I'm beginning my move into the new house. Taking a break, and delighted to see your post! Thanks!
Those gals really make running seem like great fun.
A few years ago we had a late hard freeze that just killed everyones plants and gardens. Fingers crossed that we don't get one of those this year.
My wife, the perennial NC State fan, got a big boost today from their team. She thinks I'm a closet Tar Heel (I almost went there, instead opting for Wake Forest). I actually am cousin to William C. Friday, thanks to my mom's most interesting family. I love the Tar Heel State! I also LOVE Ellie's smile...so very much...love to you, my friend. Thanks for the awesome Marcus Aurelius quote!
The photo of Ellie smiling, with the mountain in the background, looks like the reverse direction of the mountain at our property.
Huh--here in PA, we say the sky is Penn State blue.
Ah, everywhere the skies are blue.
I'm glad the girls enjoy getting out in this beautiful weather. I, too, just hope we don't get a late April freeze.
When I lived in North Carolina, I was very familiar with the saying about God and the Carolina Blue sky. But now that I live in Tennessee I have to tell you that much of that beautiful blue sky gets to you from the Volunteer State.
I love the pictures of your girls!! I think the politicians could or should take lessons from Goldens who just love everyone! :-)
Sweet pups..they look so happy.
hee hee love that last quote!
"Stress whining" I've neveer thought of it that way. But it's exactly right. A lot of that goes on around here too. Under exactly the same circumstances.... :)
It is so funny how smart our silly dogs are! I know of this whining back and forth to the door business. :)
Love those blue skies..I hope the spring stays and does not hurt the apple trees!
Thanks for your comments, everyone.
Cheryl - Here's hoping you get some good soaking rains.
Rudee - I saw the photographs. Glad you are safe and sound.
Bug - I know you must be happy that NC State is going to the Sweet Sixteen.
Wayfarin' - Good point.
Donna - We have Navy blue skies only when weather is threatening.
George - It does get to us from TN but even there it's still Carolina Blue.
The girls are gorgeous and have you ever seen such crazy weather?
