LIFE'S BETTER IN THE MOUNTAINS

Fridays are Golden

This has been a beautiful week here in the mountains.  Finally we have seasonal temperatures with significant cooling in the evenings and crisp sunny mornings.  The Golden Girls love this kind of weather and are much more active.

After a long walk or extended playtime outdoors, the girls love to curl up and snooze.  And they are often sharing one bed despite the number of beds we have around the house.

Lucy lies down and Ellie must share the bed.  Here she is deciding whether or not to move.

Deciding not to move, Ellie snoozes while Lucy watches the birds outside.

Lucy lays her head on Ellie and Ellie puts her paw on Lucy.

Lucy thinks Ellie makes the best pillow ever.

Sunday marks the tenth anniversary of a day that changed our country far beyond the expectations of the perpetrators.  You remember how our Nation came together on that day.  How can it be that we have become so divisive in ten short years?  It is frightening indeed to hear the negative comments from our leaders in Congress.

George William Curtis, nineteenth century writer and public speaker said it well:
A man's country is not a certain area of land, of mountains, rivers, and woods, but it is a principle and patriotism is loyalty to that principle.

On this weekend of rememberance, let's all focus on the principles on which our country is laid.  We must all strive to come together, work together, and respect each other.

HAVE A WONDERFUL WEEKEND, EVERYONE.

I wish everyone in congress could endeavor to work together just like your golden girls.

Ellie DOES make the best pillow ever!

It would be nice if we could stop being so divisive - myself included. Not everyone who believes differently than I do is a moron. I just need to keep repeating that to myself :)

They are so close, Ellie and Lucy.
What an example they set :)

I shall think of you all on the
11th. It is written on my heart.
Many British lost their loved ones on this day and my son lost a collegue and a friend.
It is something that will stay with many many people forever.....and I will be one of them.

Thinking of you.......

Elie and Lucy really looked quite comfortable lying on one another. It would be nice if politicians could get along so easily. Yes, we should all remember September 9.

Your dogs are making me a believer that all dogs need a live-in friend.

Have you had two dogs before these beauties?

Happy Saturday to you. Great post-love your girls cuddling together.
It is indeed a weekend to focus on those that gave their lives on 911.
I pray we never forget the sacrifice so many made while trying to save others. So glad your weather has cooled-enjoy.
Hugs, Noreen

Really love the shots of the girls enjoying the comfort of sharing a space.
We humans just can't get that sharing and working together part right.
Oddly how the pain of 911 is just as strong, only the shock has eased a bit.

I'm glad for you about your weather this past week. We, too, had the cooling, which was welcome, but every day was overcast. We have hopes of some sun today. At least we didn't get all the flooding!

I love your golden girls. Our past dogs have snuggled like that... but our current pair doesn't. K gets up and leaves whenever the wild R tries to get close!

I couldn't agree more about our country. Winning politically seems more important in Washington than actually doing anything.

Your final paragraph should be tattooed on the foreheads of everyone in Congress.
