Mid-May already. In many areas of the country spring seems to be finding it difficult to arrive. Our Milwaukee daughter lamented last week's highs in the low 40s. Unusually large snowfalls hit parts of the Rockies and there has been some severe weather throughout the southeast corridor.
But it is spring here in the mountains. The roadsides are filled with blooming blackberry bushes and gardens are lush with beauty. We are loving it. If the profuse buds fulfill their promises, we will have abundant Mountain Laurel blossoms within the week.
Lucy loves this weather. She loves to be outdoors, sniffing and running. She does not like to be outdoors and told to sit for a photograph. Unlike Ellie, who would sit and smile when she saw the camera, Lucy considers the camera a big bother. It almost always signals that I want to take a photograph, and she is not happy to have to stop her wandering.
Ha! Surely you don't expect me to smile, do you now?
Let's just get it over with.
She gazes into the distance where the scents beckon her.
There is one place in which it is never difficult to photograph Lucy. Because she spends a lot of time there and pays little attention to what I am doing. That's when she is snoozing on her beloved bee pillow.
Easy, I just pretend I don't know she is there.
Whatever your weather, I hope spring will come soon to your area. Designer Lilly Pulitzer said it well,
Despite the forecast,
Live like it's spring.
HAVE A MOST WONDERFUL WEEKEND, EVERYONE AND ENJOY WHATEVER SIGNS OF SPRING YOU HAVE

What a lovely post. Glad your weather has been a little better.
We've had a lovely day in my part of the UK ... May can be so lovely.
Have a good weekend
All the best Jan
Our weather has issues, lol! We've gone from very warm to frosty/spitting snow back to very warm, with the occasional front cooling us back down. The corn sprouts are showing in the fields, the black locust is blooming, as is the invasive honeysuckle bush. Summer is coming to Ohio. Oh, I hope you have a spectacular laurel bloom! Those lacy little blossoms are so sweet. Oh, and Lucy makes me laugh! I love her, too.
Sadly, we are entrenched in summer already with temps in the high 90*s. Oy.
That first photo of Lucy is so cute....she's NOT going to smile for you Mom. :)
Have a great weekend!
I think we're getting your good weather here in Virginia. I do wish we'd have a little bit of rain--But I do love the springtime, and all the flowers.
I loved the photos of your girl! She's very photogenic -- Not all dogs are, even Goldens--Hard to believe, isn't it? :-0
We've had the AC on for some time now, but the rains have been horrible and more rain is expected.
Wonderful quotes......
I am with Lucy in this one.....I really do not like my photograph taken :)
She is lovely with or without the smile......
Our Spring has been very unpredictable........cold warm, rain sunny.....sometimes all in one day :)
Love seeing Lucy, even if she's not smiling. I tend not to smile either when the camera is pointed at me. She is adorable, as always.
Spring weather here, temps in the 60s and some lovely sunshine. Great for taking long walks.
Hi there, So glad you take pics of Lucy-she is such a beauty. Yes, we are experiencing unusual weather and snow in the mountains. I'm ready for spring, but celebrate life every day!
Hugs,
Noreen
Had to laugh at the first picture. I use to wear a similar expression when I was a kid and Mom wanted to snap a photo. I understand Lucy. Hey we have things to do besides grinning at a box:))
My weather issues are compounded by menopause - who knows what it's really like when I'm hot & cold without regard to weather :)
Oh that silly Lucy...
Whether spring is being good, or early or late, there are flowers blooming somewhere, and there is poetry written about it! That is a wonderful thing about people and springtime.
It's a beautiful Spring, indeed! The peonies are coming on here and the roses are budding. And the Kousa dogwood is a glory!
Thanks for your comments everyone.
