LIFE'S BETTER IN THE MOUNTAINS

We Love Lucy

April is flying past and we are enjoying the freshness of spring.  I've mentioned it before, but it is wonderful to see the various changes as you drive different elevations.  Spring is in full downtown but evident only in the flowers here.

Typical for spring in the mountains, our weather has been quite changeable.  Lucy enjoys all of it except for the rain.  She won't care much for the hot summer weather but loves the spring mornings and late afternoons.

Wonder what she is thinking?

She doesn't carry tennis balls like Ellie did.
She does love to chase them.
And she likes to have them around her.

She loves the wind blowing her hair.
So many wonderful scents on the breeze.

This week is a very special one for the faithful.  Passover begins on Monday at sundown for our Jewish friends.   Interestingly enough, the Jews celebrate in our Catholic Church, having no synagogue here.  (They keep the Torah in our priest's office.  Somehow it didn't seem to fit well with the crucifix in the sanctuary.)  For Christians, Palm Sunday marks the beginning of Holy Week.

Mark Twain had some appropriate words for spring around here, although he did exaggerate at bit:

In the Spring I have counted 136 different kinds of weather inside of 24 hours.

HAVE A MOST WONDERFUL WEEKEND, EVERYONE!
STAY SAFE AND DO SOMETHING FOR YOUR NEIGHBORS.

She always does look so deep in thought. There is a mind at work in there.

I had it in my head that Lucy was the tennis ball carrier! I thought that was the coolest expression.

It's been amazing how suddenly spring. . . sprang! The dogwoods are especially pretty this year. I've been to two plant sales already and need to put myself under house arrest.

I agree with Patti about Lucy. There's a lot going on in that brain. Perhaps she's writing a book. Happy weekend.

Dear Lucy,

I love to see her but then I never truly see her alone.....I imagine that Ellie is not far away:)

It is good to help those in need....as a Christian I try to do that each day, I do not always succeed but I always try.

Blessings to you and yours at Easter.......

I love seeing Lucy's beautiful fur blowing in the wind!

It is fun seeing the difference in season with elevation. When I drive to "town", I go down around 3000', which makes spring 30 days advanced down there compared to home. It's stunning!

I, too, love seeing the wind in Lucy's face and ears. She looks so attentive and alive.

Easter, etc. can just pass me by...not feeling it at all, though I have fond childhood memories, and memories of my own daughter in her Easter garb. Spring, however, is delightful right now and the air is scented with flowers. Ah.

You have a wonderful weekend too. I wonder if Lucy is thinking of Ellie. I like to think that she is.

Thanks for your comments, everyone.

Patti-Yes, Lucy does a lot of deep thinking.

Mary Lee - Nope, it was Ellie with the mouth well suited for carrying multiple tennis balls. Lucy has managed two for very brief periods. The dogwoods are blooming here at the lower elevations.

Cheryl - Yes, I still think Ellie is near.

Tara - There is always the candy.
