LIFE'S BETTER IN THE MOUNTAINS

A Very Busy Girl

Days in the life of a two-year-old are busy indeed and our Violet is always a busy girl.  Not much for frills and dresses, she doesn't mind getting a bit of dirt or scrapes on her knees.  She much prefers the outdoors and can always find an adventure.

Darth Vader peeks between the trees

Her father took her shopping for Mama's birthday gift at a nearby upscale mall.  He put the gift on the table, gave Violet a snack and turned around to get a cup of coffee.  Unfortunately she was more interested in the gift than the snack and quick as a wink tore off the trade-mark white bow.  (Did you know they give all employees lessons in how to tie those white bows?)

She seems quite excited and is just about to open the box

Our son put a long row of small plants near the deck railing.  So Violet now has chores to do.  She keeps the little plants watered and takes the job quite seriously.

Carefully pouring water into each little pot

She loves pizza as a special treat.  This is her method for eating pizza:  first you take off and eat the pepperoni pieces and other toppings.  Next you peel off and eat the cheese.  Then you lick the sauce off with your tongue.  Finally you eat the soggy crust.  It's a bit messy but definitely the best way.

Licking off the marinara sauce

It is important to hug your animals, even the giant ones.
Violet hugs her giraffe before calling it a day.

I think of this very fortunate little girl, surrounded by the love of family and friends.  Living without fears or anxiety about her safety and security.  Assuming the best of things will happen every day.  And it breaks my heart that the same cannot be said for so very many children living in the United States and around the world.

The first of today's quotes is from Nelson Mandela:
"History will judge us by the difference we make in the everyday lives of children."

And from Oliver Wendell Holmes:
"Pretty much all of the honest truth telling there is in the world is done by children."

And from Frederick Douglas:
"It is easier to build strong children than to repair broken men."

And an anonymous quote aimed at all those who interact with small children:
"Children seldom misquote.  In fact, they usually repeat word for word what you should not have said."

HAVE A WONDERFUL WEEK, EVERYONE!

HELP THE CHILDREN WHERE YOU CAN

IT DOES TAKE A VILLAGE

Love these photos of Violet. She has a quite a character and it shows in each of these photos. What a sweet presence. And, I love how she eats pizza!

Oh, those eyes! And I love hearing about what she's doing and imagining her and Josie playing together. They have many similar interests.

And, yes. Seeing our granddaughters safe and cherished makes the thought of what our government is doing to the children of migrants and asylum seekers. History will not be kind to this administration.

What a lovely child, and so cherished and given all the nutrients of outdoors, chores and hugging! Thanks for sharing with us the good news, when you and Vicki remind us of how much other children are enduring these same days. May the world correct things to have better balance soon!

Always love these visits with Violet. She is so adorable and has the most amazing eyes. Right now, her world is perfect. Let's hope we get things straightened out before she becomes aware.

She is the sweetest little girl and I agree so much with the wise people that you chose to quote.)

PS Thanks for your nice comment and I can't believe that I deleted it by mistake. I'll try never to do that again.

Always wonderful to read a post about Violet and this one was so charming, if that word can apply. Your granddaughter is a much loved child and it shows in her personality which really does come through here. And, her way of enjoying pizza was fun to read too and what a great toy giraffe to hug before bedtime!

Violet is learning that she is loved and needed. What a sad and complete contrast to the lessons the current administration is teaching to the children at our borders.

After seeing Violet in her Darth Vader shirt, may I say that I look forward with great anticipation to her Halloween costume.

Violet is so adorable & I love how seriously she attacks life. I'm just heartbroken about what is going on in this world - to children, to their parents, to all the people who are "other"...

What a beautiful post; thank you for sharing such sweet photos and moments of Violet's life.
I didn't get a Tiffany box until I was almost 40 (still a cherished gift) so I hope she has high expectations in life. ;)
She is a fortunate young lady and I do pray that more children or loved and cared for as she is. What a joy she is for her Mom and Dad.

Thanks for your comments, everyone. I do appreciate them.

Robin - Eating pizza is pretty messy at best but Violet elevates it to a new level.

Vicki - Oh, it would be wonderful to see those two together, wouldn't it? Her eyes are always the first thing anyone notices about her. The lashes are so thick they look fake.

Barbara - I share your concerns about things so out of balance. And I fervently hope it can be restored.

Patti - She does have a perfect world right now (except for living too far away from this grandmother). I do worry about the damage this administration is doing to our legal system and the environment as well as our treatment of others.

Ginnie - Thanks. There are many people who have sage advice on children, aren't there?

Beatrice - She does love the giant giraffe as well as a gian elephant she has.

Nance - Her father is already planning Halloween. It has been his favorite holiday since he was a small child. I have no doubt Violet will have a creative costume.

Bug - Violet has a great sense of humor but she does get very serious about things. A nice balance, I believe.

Jan - Thank you so much. And thanks for some great recipes we are enjoying.

Suz - I give Violet a couple of Tiffany charms for each birthday and Christmas so she will have a nice charm bracelet at some point.
