LIFE'S BETTER IN THE MOUNTAINS

Wet Golden Friday

Severe thunderstorms seem to be the weather of the week.  I sound like a broken record, but once again the roads are flooded and rivers are running high.  We did have some sunshine earlier in the week and totally enjoyed it.  But the rain is torrential today with widespread flooding, landslides and fallen trees.  Debris in rivers is hitting the bridge pilings, threatening the integrity of the structures.

We have bought several sets of boots for Lucy, since they get wet every time she goes out.  At a given moment we have several boots hanging to dry on the hooks in the garage.  She spends much of the day curled up or stretched out although she has done a little bit of running in the driveway.  She does not seem to have any pain.

A little bit of light but no real sunbeams.

Violet is mostly recovered from her GI virus.  Our son learned from the pediatrician that it is rampant in their area.  No need to worry unless she starts running a fever or stops urinating.  So she was kept on electrolyte drinks for most of the week.  She likes the drink and kept hydrated.

We sent her a book for Easter.  And a little lap board with some "magic" stamps and markers that make marks only on the special paper.  We sent an extra packet of the paper as well.  She loves them and spent quite a bit of time drawing.  It was almost impossible to keep a hat on her when she was smaller.  Now she loves them and often wears one all day inside the house.  Her wise parents do not see that as a battle in which they wish to engage so they let her wear them as long as she wants.

I'm not sure what distracted her from her work.

In these days when so many euphemisms are used for lies, it is well to recall what the Buddha had to say about truth.

"There are only two mistakes one can make along the road to truth;
Not going all the way,
And not starting."
The Buddha

So don't fall for "slip of the tongue" or "alternative facts."  They are in fact, lies and we need to start holding people accountable for them.  Too many people wear their blinders and utter, "well, that's just the way they are."  No.  It isn't.  It's wrong and sends such a bad message to our Nation and the rest of the world.

Holy Week ends on Easter Sunday for Christians all over the world.  Today also marks the first Seder, the special meal that begins the Jewish Passover.  In a spirit of unity, some churches will co-celebrate Good Friday services with a Seder meal.

Whatever you will be celebrating, or if you will not be celebrating anything...

HAVE A WONDERFUL WEEK, EVERYONE!

LOVE AND RESPECT ONE ANOTHER

Hope the rain lets up there and you get some much-needed sunshine and relief from the torrential downpours. Lucy does look comfy as always. Violet is so adorable. I'm glad she's recovering. Such a bummer when a little one has a GI infection. Love that Buddha quote.

That is an adorable picture of Violet - so cute!

We had torrential rain today - which was at its peak as I was carting groceries into the house. Ha! Fortunately, although we had a tornado warning we didn't have more than just some high winds. Although Dr. M's father just called to say that his cherry tree fell on one of his grape vines. Tragedy!

Violet has the most amazing eyes and I love that her parents allow her wearing the hat all day. She is lucky to have grandparents like you. I always love what you have to share and agree with your sentiments.

PS; we actually had tornado warnings today but nothing touched down.

I love the picture of your precious Violet, and I'm glad she's feeling better. Continued good vibes for ALL of you to enjoy good health!

Your thoughts about "slip of the tongue" and "alternative facts" is spot on. I find the whole thing disturbing and *we* were only shown a glimpse.

Enough the rains is mist likely your feeling by now and hope you will be safe from any future flooding. We gave our granddaughter similar art supplies for her 2nd birthday and she also enjoys them and no messes. Lucy looks to have found a good spot even without the sun. You are so right that we should not be lulled by false rhetoric. Accountability is important but people want to pass the blame, always especially those in high places.

Know what you mean about endless rains though we don't have the flooding like you do. Yesterday was cold, windy and raining. Today it is just cold.
So happy Lucy has no pain and can still enjoy her spots of almost sun.
I think Violet has a future as an artist and how smart that the markers only leave marks on special paper. Who ever invented that was a genius.
I sometimes wonder if this debacle we are living through will ever end. Our leadership is a sad joke.

Violet looks like a charming little gnome in her Hat Of The Day. What better time to try out all sorts of different looks than childhood? And where is the harm?

So much wisdom (and so often) from Buddha.

The heavy rains do NOT sound like fun for any of you. Hoping they clear up before more damage is done.
Violet is adorable in her hat-what a funny little girl she is.
Happy Easter to you and yours.

As everyone else has commented, ditto. I heard the forecast for this storm system before it even hit the west coast...and then yesterday it came through both NC and FL (where I'm staying with my son.) It changed some flights around yesterday as others flew in from elsewhere...but all have now arrived safely. Your little ones (2 and 4 legged) are both so sweet. Enjoy them! Happy Passover and Happy Easter.

I love the hat!

And re lies -- so true. Too many people are willing to excuse the inexcusable. Bad enough if it was just one's crazy uncle who likes to talk big. A disaster when it's the President. Will a whole generation grow up- believing that truth doesn't matter, that lies are a reasonable means to an end? Appalling!

Glad Lucy without pain. Violet is such a darling. The latest I was told about the lies was “...just a mistake”. The rationalizations are incredible.

Thanks for your comments, everyone. I do think my son and his wife are wise to allow Violet to wear a hat indoors all day. No foul, no harm.
