LIFE'S BETTER IN THE MOUNTAINS

We Love Lucy

We are enjoying some marvelous sunny weather and we are out as often as possible.  And we have so many great places to go.  We took Lucy for a ride on the Blue Ridge Parkway.  While she enjoyed the ride and the short stops, she didn't seem to notice the gorgeous views of the mountains.

No matter how often we drive up there, we stand in awe at the grandeur.  We gawk more like tourists than people who live here in the mountains.  (You might want to click on the photographs to appreciate the light and beauty.)

Lucy ignored the clouds casting their shadows on the colorful mountains.
She was too busy looking for people.

She didn't notice Cold Mountain in sunlight and shadow.

She doesn't mind being on lead, but she does not like standing still.

Come on, Dad.  I'm ready to go meet some folks who will likely pet me.
Most everyone does.

It was a tiring day so she snuggled with her pillow to snooze in the sun.

So many people of our planet are still in turmoil; fearful, hungry and afraid.  It isn't enough, but we try to do our little part to help them.  And we wish fervently for peace.  Please join me and do whatever you can to help those less fortunate.

Today's quote is from Martin Luther King, Jr.

The hope of a secure and livable world lies with disciplined nonconformists
Who are dedicated to justice, peace, and brotherhood.

HAVE A WONDERFUL WEEKEND, EVERYONE!

excellent quote, and one that I heartily agree with.

your mountains are so beautiful -- I feel calmed just by looking at them. Good thing Lucy is a good car passenger -- no motion sickness there! I was surprised to discover some dogs do not do well in the car for that reason.

Have a lovely weekend.

Oh those glorious mountains... It's a good thing my little street has some pretty trees or I would be VERY homesick!

Dogs are more physical than visual aren't they?? Unless it involves a bunny tail running away.
I agree, I too am stunned each day at the anger in our world and do what I can by example.

The Bug speaks truth...Ohio is in resplendent autumn glory this year...I'll post more pics soon...a really, really beautiful display. Otherwise, I would be sitting here pining for Appalachian solice. Once you've lived in the shadow of Cold Mountain, it is really, really hard to live anywhere else.

I love seeing your beautiful mountains in the fall light and color. So incredibly lovely. Lucy is a lucky girl to go on such trips with you!

Love the quote. I wish the planet were held in much kinder hands.

Your autumn mountain views are full of so many colors. I love the reds that shine so brightly in the midst of the other trees. I bet Lucy loved coming along with you. I'd surely pet her if I met her!!!!

Your quote is perfect.

I enlarged, the images are stunning............what a beautiful place to be, takes your breath away.

Dear Lucy..........I thought of you on holiday. I met a lady with two goldies. They ran to greet me on the beach. Of course, Ellie and Lucy came to mind. They are such charming dogs.

Indeed, the state of the world saddens me. If we can each do one thing to help, no matter how small, collectively it would make a difference.

Have a wonderful weekend.....

What stunning photographs. There is something about mountains which can inspire or calm you. They will always be there, whatever happens in this world of ours. I think we need the natural world to heal us after contemplating dreadful happenings we cannot understand, let alone alter.

Absolutely glorious views; I'd never tire of them either.
Cocoa is a bit like Lucy; she just knows that every human wants to pet and visit with her...and why the heck not?
Wishing you a beautiful and peaceful weekend. Enjoy
