LIFE'S BETTER IN THE MOUNTAINS

Fridays Are Golden

We thought we were in for some sunny days without any rain.  Yesterday dawned bright and gorgeous.  Finally we were having some typical summer weather.  And then at 1:00 the clouds came out of nowhere and poured rain down upon us.  Heavy rain.  As in two and a half inches in one hour!  Fortunately when the rain stopped, it stopped.  The rest of the day was beautiful and we are enjoying a sunny day today.

Our Lucy loves to look out the windows.  The dining room window makes a perfect spot to make certain no one is walking on her road.  She periodically "patrols" the house, looking out the windows in all directions.  (And yes, she must stick her nose on the window to look out.)

In spite of a long walk, Ellie flies down the driveway to greet me.
She looks a lot like Lucy in last week's post.

Lucy love to snooze with her head on the chair rail.  Surprisingly enough, she never uses my chair or my husband's chair.

This is the last weekend in August.  Schools are opening their doors once again and the tourists will leave us for a while.  But they will be back to see the leaves.

Today's quote is appropriate for our time:

"Those who expect to reap the blessings of freedom must undergo the fatigue of supporting it."
Thomas Paine

The struggle to support our freedom these days is challenging and at times fatiguing.  And yet, if we do not respond to the call to action, many more freedoms will be lost.  So we keep up the faith and trudge onward.

HAVE A SAFE AND WONDERFUL WEEKEND, EVERYONE!!!

Love the head on the chair rail. Not what I would call comfortable but she obviously finds it so.

Freedoms and rights...not privileges. As for the rain...we are so over our yearly totals, can't imagine more!

Funny how they have to stick their noses ON the window to see properly! Mingus ran into a wire fence yesterday he was so intent on a deer. Sigh.

It's a crying shame we can't split the rain with you. We could use some.

Gorgeous girls... as always!

So Golden! What a happy looking pair of girls after their walk. It's been raining buckets here too, a good thing for our fire-endangered state. However, I'm sorry that it keeps on raining on you!

We have been inundated with daily rains. Makes me a little crazy; enough is enough!
Why do dogs insist on hitting every window with their noses???

Such interesting times we are living in. More than 200 square miles of forest are burning here in California and we have no rain in sight. My brother in Virginia tells me he has gone swimming FOUR times this whole summer. He usually goes everyday. I guess this is what James Taylor was singing about, "I've seen fire and I've seen rain."

I'm glad to know that you have window nose prints, too.

Head on chair rail... how can that possibly be comfortable?!

They're such beautiful girls!

The past 4 days have been perfect in Moore County, NC ... I wish I could say the same about our new State gov't. I keep planning to write about my views but I get so depressed with it all that it wears me down.
Your girls look like so much fun.

Love the girls! (We have those nose prints on our windows too) and I love your woodpecker pictures. Right on to your comments about our freedoms and rights!

Thanks for your comments, everyone. Glad to hear we have so much company in the nose print department.
