Our house is in the woods and we are a short distance (but about a million dollars) away from the gorgeous views of the mountains. If we go up to the third floor windows and stand on tiptoe, we have a long range view. On the other hand, a short walk takes us to a lovely lake, and a little further from our house to see some of the most lovely mountains you can imagine.
These photographs were taken not far from our house. I love the way the evening sun brings light to some areas while the others are shaded. I cannot imagine living anywhere else in the world. You may want to click to enlarge to appreciate the color.
It has turned quite cold here and the entire South is in the deep freeze. We had a few snowflakes yesterday, but nothing like the Northeast snowstorm. The mornings are really crisp, and the sun warms us up to 50 during the day. Needless to say, our dogs just love the fall weather. This wonderful weather and autumn beauty improve the mood. I wish I could share it all with you.

I love this fall weather too. I find it invigorating and cheerful. I like how light changes the leaf colors. Going from full shade to overcast sky to full sun- wonderful!
Carolyn: That is absolutely beautiful as the color creeps over the mountainside. We have snow today, can you believe that.
Beautiful autumn colors and pictures. The mountain view are truly spectacular this time of year. You are blessed to live so close.
I can understand why you love where you live.....I enlarged some of the photographs and it is stunning......
Thank you for showing us and enjoy your autumn......
You've really captured the essence of fall with your photos1 I clicked on several and totally enjoyed the scenery. I, on the other hand, had the snow storm, a different kind of pretty but I'd be happy looking at the views you caught for a little while longer!:)
Really gorgeous autumn views!
Mild here today (12.4C / 8c overnight) with rain expected later today ... which probably equates to possible showers where we live!
Our dogs have the cold weather crazies, too! This is what I call "good dog weather." Nice pictures!
Carolyn, You do live in a gorgeous place. I love the NC mountains, North GA mountains, and of course our Tennessee Smokies. We don't go to the Smokies this time of year though, due to heavy traffic. Our colors on the Cumberland Plateau (we're 2000 feet above sea level) have begun FINALLY. We had some rain on Friday --and now it's cold. That helps bring out the colors. Thanks for sharing and enjoy your beautiful area.
The second photo is particularly beautiful with the sky, trees and mountains. Our fall colours are finished here.
I WILL live in mountains someday!
You truly did pick a beautiful place to live. I love those mountains too.
Oh Carolyn... these took my breath away, truthfully! So gorgeous! Thanks for sharing the color we've not seen yet.
Just Breathtaking...Thank You for Sharing The Beauty Of Your Part Of The State...

From A/C to heat within a week. South from you, we are about 20 degrees below normal (overnight) so I'm wishing for a foot of snowfall in one day and a cold winter. 75 degrees in December is nice, but...a bit of winter weather would be a treat :o)
Each time we have driven through the mountains on 81 during the Autumn color peak, we saw FOG. LOL!
Enjoy the mountains. I would.
Mary
Wow, look at those colors as far as the eye can see. Stunning!
