We Love Lucy

Our Lucy loves to have a pillow.  She often rests her head on some rather uncomfortable pillows.  And sometimes she lies on a bed with her head on the floor.

Her body on the bed and her head on the floor.

Sometimes she lays her head on the hard corner of the hearth.
It looks very uncomfortable.

The rung of a chair will do just fine.

But there is nothing to compare to her previous favorite pillow.
Oh, how we all miss Ellie.

Today is the last day of January and I say, "Good riddance."  It's been a month of much colder than normal temperatures, snow and high winds here in the mountains and elsewhere in the country.

So we look forward to our short month.
William Cullen Bryant gives us our quote:

"The February sunshine steeps your boughs and tents the buds and swells the leaves within."

Isn't that a pleasant thought?  Even though we have plenty of winter ahead of us.

HAVE A WONDERFUL AND SAFE WEEKEND, EVERYONE!!!

I'm sure Lucy misses her favorite pillow very much and I know you miss her favorite pillow, too.

Stay warm!

I often think of your lovely photos of the two girls. Do you think Lucy realizes we all love her ?

Lucy does find some interesting places to lay her beautiful head. I'm sure she misses her favorite pillow.

I'll be happy to say good bye to January. Driest on record here. Hoping for some good rains in February, and I hope your temps are warm and balmy.

The chair leg was interesting. There is no comparison to the wonderful pillow she once had.

Our dogs have been known to use chair rungs too!

I realized last week, when I left the comment that Lucy needed a pillow, that it was a very bittersweet comment. I almost came back to revise it... but then I realized that Ellie is probably never far from your hearts and minds so I wasn't bringing up something that you hadn't thought about.

We all miss Ellie, but nowhere near like you do.

I like your optimistic view of February!

Aren't our fur kids interesting where their choices of sleeping places are concerned?
We have placed a blanket on one side of each of our love seats in our family room. My husband sits in one love seat, I in the other--and then the pets choose where they might sit.
While we have 3 cats and 1 dog, only one cat and the dog like to sleep on the love seats. The nightly ritual is whether the cat or the dog will get to sleep next to me. I don't know why me--but our cat sometimes gets here first -- and then the dog pouts. Or if the dog gets here first, the cat sits on the floor looking up at me. As soon as one of them vacates the space, the other jumps in.
What a silly game--but very endearing.

i had a golden that used to do the same thing…she always looked uncomfortable to me, but loved laying in different elevations! I miss Ellie too….

Animals do find the most interesting places to rest, even if we humans would not agree. Lucy does not seem uncomfortable in any, but of course the last one was the most comfortable place, next to Ellie. As for Feb, as it is my birthday month, it has always been special for me.

Poor sweet Lucy...

And I love the IDEA of things budding, but I'm afraid the reality is some weeks away :)

I wish we could know what our beloved pets are thinking. Lucy does look like she's still mourning in those photos...sigh.

As for winter, I must admit I'm loving it. Thanks for your visits to my blog, I've written a short story about Dimples & Dot inspired by your and other comments...I hope you enjoy it:)

I feel the same way about January this year. The first day of February was great. Hope spring comes soon.

I also wonder how they can possibly be comfortable--I guess I'm spoiled!

Thanks for your comments, everyone.

KB - Yes, always in our thoughts.

Donna - I love how everyone has a favorite spot. Too bad they can't say, "Now, don't get my spot."
