LIFE'S BETTER IN THE MOUNTAINS

We Love Lucy

We all love the winter sun.  Our house is situated such that if the sun is shining, one can find a place to sit in the sun.  In winter Lucy follows the sun around the house.  One of her favorite spots is the rug near the front door.

She often snoozes with her head up.

Sometimes she stretches out to maximize the rays.

Midwestern winters were the worst for lack of sun.  The cold and snow we could tolerate.  But the days on end without the sun took a toll on us.

I thought that John Updike described those winters best:

The days are short
The sun a spark
Hung thin between
The dark and dark.

HAVE A WONDERFUL WEEKEND, EVERYONE!
SPRING IS ONLY EIGHT WEEKS AWAY

Hey, I have a quick question I wanted to ask you about your blog, do you think you could send me an email when you get this? Thanks! Tiffany

She's lovely. Always ladylike--except for the tennis ball thing. :) Scout on the bay window seat to bask in the sun. Sometimes it looks so appealing, I shove her over and get up there with her.

My Indianapolis daughter sent me a photo of her car thermometer at 0. I sent back one showing mine--at 15. Too darned cold either place!

Love seeing Lucy relaxing in the sunlight like that. One of the reasons we left the pacific northwest and came home to California was for the sunlight. It is quite elusive on the Olympic Peninsula.

What The Bug said...I'll bet Lucy is so toasty warm. LOVE these pics of her. Even the sun was cold today in OH, lol!

Maybe Lucy needs a pillow to rest her chin on... What a beautiful girl.

I agree about the sun. Like you, I can handle the cold and snow but I cannot handle many gray days.

8 weeks? Wow. That's when our real snow starts, believe it or not.

I think Lucy has the right idea, especially with all the cold we've been having!

I need to find me a spot of sun to bask in, I've been freezing and it has been way to gray lately. It's supposed to warm up tomorrow and I'm ready!

Updike nailed it.

Ha, had to laugh at Lucy's position when sleeping. I do that on the couch only call it "resting my eyes."
John said it perfectly.

I hope that Lucy and all in your household will have a great weekend too. I would love to know what she is dreaming about.

I know what you mean about the sun, days without it are so dreary, Updike's words capture it well. Good news is the days are getting obviously longer...didn't realize spring was just around the corner! But I'd be happy with a little more snow between now and then:)

Lucy is just a beauty basking in the sun.
I've never lived somewhere where the sun was not always a given; I could not imagine.

You mention that your house has a way for sun to shine in everywhere. I am very attuned to compass points, and must have a house with windows on every side of the house. I am struck by how many newly built houses limit sun exposure to two sides.
Good for Lucy--always find the sun no matter where it shines.

Thanks for your comments, everyone.

KB - yes, I'm sure she misses her pillow (Ellie). But not as much as I do.

Donna - I cannot imagine having a house without windows all around.
