LIFE'S BETTER IN THE MOUNTAINS

Back Online Temporarily

First, a computer update. My laptop "crashed" and service replaced the hard drive with a new one. I picked it up this morning. When I got home and turned it on, I waited...and waited...and waited. It appeared to boot up properly, but I couldn't access any programs! After 30 minutes, the screen saver came on, and I could access everything with no problem. I called service and (of course) will need to take it back in. I'll see how it behaves today and probably take it back in tomorrow. Bummer! This service will likely require re-installing the Windows Operating System, so I will lose any data not backed up. Problem is...my laptop came with Windows already installed, so I will have to obtain a disk from Microsoft in order to make the changes. Ah, cyberspace is a mess sometimes.

Having assured my friend there was no way we would have snow, I awakened Sunday morning to this winter wonderland.

We had planned to spend a lot of time sitting on the deck and watching the birds. Somehow that no longer seemed to be such a good idea.

The birds were there, all right. And just lovely in the snow.

When it started snowing, Al kept right on working with his little wheelbarrow.

Sunday morning, Al was buried under the snow. I gave him some time off.

The heavy snow was indeed beautiful. The branches were heavy and some of them nearly touched the ground. There was furious action at all the birdfeeders.

Fortunately, we did not let the snow bother us. There is no need to complain just because you are stuck on the mountain. We had plenty of food, were warm and comfortable and had a great time.

We had a great day on Sunday,.... the kind you were looking forward to, sunshine, warm, sat out on deck,.. and then overnight.... SNOW! It's snowing again now. But the upside of it all is that this time of year it doesn't stick around long. Hope your computer woes are resolved soon!

Yeah, I can think of worse things than being stuck in NC mountains in a beautiful snow.....

We came to the coast to get away from the snow ... and what did it do last night and today? You guessed it. Vancouver is a mess in the morning if there is snow ... greasy snow. The roads are clear tonight already.

Sorry about the continued computer promblems. Hopefully things will get resolved and SOON.

Indeed I agree there was no reason to complain about stuck on the mountain in that. Sorry to hear about the laptop. Hope they fix it soon and you don't have too many problems getting a replacement disk from Microsoft.

What a gorgeous snowfall. It's day and views like that which remind me why I stay contentedly living here in the frozen northland. Sorry to read again about your computer problems. They can be sooo frustrating.

I just came across your blog - beautiful photos - although I am TOTALLY OVER snow... It is 9 degrees, and the snow seems never-ending! When you take your computer in, see if the tech can create a start up disc for you... unless your computer came with discs, that may well have your OS on it?

At least you can get a screen saver - mine simply will not work on my new computer. I have already taken it back to original status - and still nothing works. ARG - we need these contraptions, and they are such a pain at times!

Have a great day - nice stopping by for a read,

eila

Life is what happens in between your plans..but usually those life experiences are the ones we look back upon with fond memories..even tho at the time they happen we don't feel that way..
Glad you are not going to let it interfere with visiting...beside those pics make for a nice backdrop for yummies and coffee!!

But it's pretty.

All this technology...we think we are the masters, but we aren't.

Here ya go: "Susan, please. You are SO ABLOGIAL."

Thanks for commenting. The snow was quite sporadic. We got 8 inches and some parts of the community got only a dusting.

My computer is definitely not "normal" so I will be taking it in on Thursday. It takes more than 15 minutes from turning it on to being able to access programs. The fact that it will eventually work gives me hope they can troubleshoot Windows from the Internet.

Cheryl - Ellie LOVED the snow. Lucy did not like having snow on her paw pads and feathering. I don't think she remembers snow in Wisconsin.

Tattered - We also had an unbelievably warm weekend after the snow. Eight inches of snow on Sunday and 74 degrees on Friday.

Susan - You always crack me up.
