Still Not There Yet

Judged by the content of their character rather than the color of their skin.  Such was the dream of Martin Luther King, Jr.  That someday his little children would not be judged by the color of their skin.   And we are indeed moving toward achieving that dream.  But we are not there yet.

And so we all must persevere.  For the sake of our country.  Our nation is in danger today because of increasingly harsh rhetoric that seems to equate "political correctness" with equality for all.  And to suggest disdain for both.  We cannot let our apathy and inaction allow the dreams of so many before us to fade away.  Hold on to that dream.

In the words of Martin Luther King himself:  "Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about the things that matter."

Amen. The way the Right has turned PC into a dirty word is so cynical, so devastating for any hope of a polite society. No, we aren't there yet, alas. But we have to keep reaching for it.

Thank you for remembering the dream. We are not there yet, but it's still in our hearts.

Sometimes I think we have come so far then I read about some disgusting hate crime. Guess we have to do more and pray harder. No time to relax, especially in the voting booth.

I expect in their lifetime both my white grandson born in North Dakota, his black sister born in Ethiopia and their 2nd grade brother from Rwanda will see that day come close to fruition with the grace of God Almighty....:)

Well said! My blog is not political at all but I was sorely tempted to write something very similar. I guess that I am guilty of exactly what your last quote is about. I am outraged to the point of yelling at the TV when I hear some of the right-wing candidate comments. It's awful that anyone could consider supporting them.
