LIFE'S BETTER IN THE MOUNTAINS

We Love Lucy

What a week this has been.  We had a very large very severe storm system rage through bringing us the gamut of unpleasant weather.  High winds, rain, hail, and even bits of snow.  Lots of folks are still without power as downed trees have interrupted the lines.  But today it is sunny and calm with warmer temperatures.

Fortunately our Lucy does not pay much attention to outside weather.  She hates the rain when she has to be out in it, but she loves to watch the rain through the windows.  She was fascinated by the sight of the hail "popping" on the deck.  She does not mind thunder at all, thank goodness.  She especially loves to be outside on windy days.  She stands and turns her head in all directions with her nose uplifted to catch the scents.  She especially loves it when we are out in the yard and she can be off leash.

I'm not sure exactly what has caught her eye, but it's clearly not me and the camera.
Not ten minutes after being carefully groomed she looks so unkempt.

So once again we mourn the loss of lives and the injuries from yet another shooting in our country.  While not all of these despicable acts are preventable, we must take more measures to keep our citizens safe from shooters with rapid-fire guns.  Don't tell me (as my brother often does) about the Second Amendment and the rights of hunters.  NO private citizen needs to own an automatic weapon designed for the battlefield.

Tomorrow the Democrats in neighboring South Carolina will hold their primary and hopefully the political rhetoric will slow down for a while.  Bernie has already ruined one of my favorite Simon and Garfunkel songs.  I must admit that I loved what SC Republican Senator Lindsay Graham had to say about the Republican debate and presidential race.  (Graham was among the many originally running for President this year).  He laughingly said his party had gone bat-sh*t crazy.  He followed that with the fact that he would vote for the GOP candidate no matter who it might be.  Said he felt almost as if he had bought a ticket on the Titanic and that was even after he saw the movie.

Too bad we can't follow the advice of Euripides, author of ancient Greek tragedies:
“In case of dissension, never dare to judge till you've heard the other side.

I'm far too often like this:

This election year is scaring me. I read the headlines and I want to run and hide. I like seeing Lucy, and thinking about spring flowers. I hope the weather there calms down and warm sunny days abound.

This spring/winter cusp promises to be full of wild extremes. So do politics this year!

Your girl is beautiful, and a welcome distraction from the politics. And I loved Lindsay Graham, he was spot on!!

Glad to hear your weather has eased and Lucy is able to enjoy the wind in her hair... and the scents in her nostrils!

Yes, I too was saddened to once again read about shootings in the US - my heart goes out to all who have been affected by this terrible and tragic event.

Here in the UK we are following the Presidential Campaign and of course we have our own In/Out EU referendum to keep all the TV channels etc busy ...

This is why it's so lovely to read and see a lovely picture of Lucy ... interesting the wind doesn't bother her, I know some dogs can get quite skittish / jumpy.

I hope you have a pleasant weekend

All the best Jan

Totally agree. Hunting weapons are not on the same planet as automatic weapons designed for one purpose---to kill humans. These stories of carnage are becoming alarmingly too regular. I hope we never become so jaded to accept these horrific accounts as business as usual.

Lucy looks gorgeous, with silky and shiny fur!

I agree with Lindsey Graham too. But why would he stick with it? That's the part I don't get.

I completely agree with you about weapons. If the GOP weren't in the NRA's back pocket, maybe something would happen to curb the arming of private citizens with weapons made for wars.

We caucus on Monday, and I still haven't made up my mind. It's a super tough decision on the Dem side (at least for me).

I love this version of Lindsey Graham. He cracks me up. But I have to agree heartily with KB Bear: why then go down with the ship just because it's captained by a member of the party?

This back-and-forth weather--first mild and windy, then cold and snowy from one day to the next--is wreaking havoc with my migraines. I cannot get a break and feel so trapped.

Lucy looks fluffy and serene in the sun. How wonderful.

Happy Sunday, I think Lucy looks beautiful and nice & clean. I hope you get some well deserved sunshine and spring weather. WE are having a beautiful day here. I am so sick and tired of all the politics going on and it will only get worse. Don't think anyone deserves my vote. Enough said.
We are supposed to get rain this week which is really early for our area; I've got to stock up on things for the tornado season.
Have a great afternoon.
Hugs, Noreen

Thanks for your comments, everyone. Lucy thanks you for the comments after I called her unkempt. Actually, our Ellie had such gorgeous hair that glistened in the sun that Lucy looks untidy compared to her.
