LIFE'S BETTER IN THE MOUNTAINS

We Love Lucy

We have four large lakes in our community.  One of them is near our house and Lucy loves to play there along the water.  In winter there are few people around so we can let her run to her heart's content.  And run she does.

Smiling as she runs past the canoes

Still smiling when we made her rest for a bit on the handicapped fishing pier

Smiling as she runs along with her shadow

 And backlit by the lake

A little trip to the lake fills Lucy's exercise needs and our own needs to embrace the beauty.

We return to the much dreaded Daylight Savings Time this weekend.  Seems such a short while since we moved our clocks back an hour.

I try not to let the time change affect me so much and to follow John Muir's advice:

Our quote also comes from John Muir, a man who truly knew how to live:

"When we contemplate the whole globe as one great dewdrop,
Striped and dotted with continents and islands,
Flying through space with other stars all singing and shining together as one,
The whole universe appears as an infinite storm of beauty."

If only the people of the entire world could appreciate that we are all interconnected.  We share the same resources and what hurts one hurts us all.

HAVE A WONDERFUL WEEKEND, EVERYONE
BE A PART OF THE WHOLE GLOBE

Oh, that second quote is so touching...and I agree, if only everyone felt this way.
So nice that Lucy gets a safe and open space to run to her hearts content. Have a great weekend.

I love seeing Lucy having such a fun time by the lake. She is a beauty and that lake is so pretty. Makes one long for spring. We've got sunshine today and it should last through next week-it feels so good.
Have a great weekend.
Hugs, Noreen

You are quoting a wise man who I admire also. Glad to have you all in my neighborhood (that's a pun intended upon my last name, Rogers, though no relation to Fred). Lucy does seem so very happy by the lake.

Lucy backlit for the win! Also, seriously? I was just to the point where my MWF commute wasn't in the dark...blerg. Beautiful words...I'm just not ready to "spring forward" though I am SO ready for Spring!

Love seeing Lucy running in the sun. So beautiful. I'm not happy about the time change. I wish we could at least wait until after equinox.

Loved seeing Lucy having so much fun. Dogs get such joy from running. Wish I did:))
She really casts a large shadow.

That last picture of Lucy is fabulous! I can't wait until I can walk around outdoors again, which is easier to do during daylight savings time. I think I must be the only one looking forward to it!

Glad Lucy (and you) could enjoy some beautiful outdoor time by the lake!

If you're lucky enough to share your day with a beautiful girl like Lucy and her smile, you are lucky enough, no matter how long the day is! :-)

I love Lucy's smile. I smile right back at her through my screen when I see it. And that backlit photo is really special. I love the light.

I forgot that you and my husband are the only two people I know who dread DST! He thinks it happens too soon in spring. Ah well.

Thanks for the wonderful John Muir quote.

Your Lucy is so beautiful. Makes me miss my Rocky. Amen to that last quote.
I get weary of all the anger and hatred in our world today.
The only reason I look forward to DST is I can drive to and from my writing groups in daylight not darkness.

Love the backlit photo especially. And I can't believe how perfect that second quote is for another short story that has currently seized me. . .

I often wonder how so many of us want to be interconnected and yet it doesn't happen. Our world gets smaller daily and we MUST find a way to get along, despite our differences.
We could all learn from all the Lucy's out there !

Thanks for your comments, everyone.

Barbara - John Muir is one of my heroes as well.

Linthead - Yes, I hate that commutes and school buses are once again running in the dark.

Robin - I agree. If we must have Daylight SAvings time, let's make it 50-50 and start at the equinox and end at the equinox.

Bug - No, you are definitely not the only one. The rich merchants and golfers are also glad to have the extra evening light. But you have a nobler reason.

KB - The runner is right. It's far too early now.

Vicki - Keep that brain working on short stories.
