LIFE'S BETTER IN THE MOUNTAINS

Fridays Are Golden

Our weather has been very strange indeed.  We have had very mild temperatures but the sun has been hidden behind the clouds and rain.  Unusual to think it's cold and dreary only to go outdoors and find it's warm and dreary.

The girls do not like the rain and stay out only the necessary time to attend to body functions.  Fortunately we do have two play areas indoors.  We have a large den with heavy furniture as well as a screened porch we use when the weather is this mild.  So they do romp and play.

Mostly, however, they snooze.  And more often than not in the same bed.  And more often than not with Ellie serving as Lucy's pillow.

Please don't ask me to get up.

I'm really bored and tired of this rain.

I'll just look the other way.

Pro football and college basketball rule our house right now.  The Packers are still in the playoffs, and the TarHeels are really struggling.  (To be expected when 80% of your shot-makers went pro, but disheartening nonetheless.)  Thank goodness for books and downstreaming.  Although I wouldn't miss a Packer game for anything.

Many are getting the mid-winter doldrums and so our quote today comes from Goethe:

Sometimes our fate resembles fruit trees in winter.  Who would think that those branches would turn green again and blossom?  But we hope it; we know it.

HAVE A WONDERFUL WEEKEND, EVERY ONE OF YOU!!!

Snuggling indoors sounds good to us!

I'm really considering becoming a cheese-head - just to make football season interesting again. I never really took to the Bengals, and the Panthers weren't even there when I still lived in NC (I don't think).

However, I think you know my thoughts about Carolina :)

Happy Friday, We aren't getting rain but we are getting heavy snow right now. Glad I already went out for a walk; have errands to run but may pass on them today.
Have a great weekend.

Perfect quote for the winter blues....just think of how wonderful it is when the spring buds start to form and you know what miracle is coming.

I know just how the girls feel! We had some sun yesterday and today we are back to dreary, with more rain predicted. Blah.

I love the cuddling doggies.

I like your quote, but I'm really hopeful our very warm temperatures don't coax our fruit trees into wakening early again this year. I don't think our fruit farms can take another blow like last year. It's going to be near 60 degrees here in southeast Michigan today.

Your pictures of the "Golden girls" are always so sweet.
Altho I live in an entirely different area of North Carolina we've been experiencing the same weather. Today is actually in the high 70's ...we really need to get some winter to hold the bugs down.

Your girls are so cute when they cuddle. Well, they are cute when they don't as well.
You would have to prove to me that it is actually winter. Our a/c has been running since 2013 started. With highs in the upper 80's. Ughhhhh.
Happy weekend

I love your quote, and it's perfect this time of the year, and for me right now!

Our weather has been strange too--Today it felt like spring, and all the mud in my yard made it look like that too--I wish we would get a little bit of snow, just to make it all pretty again!

I hope you and the girls are enjoying your weekend!

... and we (Mingus and me) haven't been out much because it has been COLD. Yesterday though, Mingus donned his boots and we ventured out on a good run. He is SO much happier if he has had a good outing in the day.

It was so mild today that we left the doors open and little Willa was in heaven -- in and out, in and out all day long.

Thanks for your comments, everyone.

Bug - This might not be a good time to become a Packer-backer given their performance on Saturday night.

Rudee - True. We are really hoping for some colder weather and soon.

Vicki - Glad Willa enjoyed the freedom. I think we're in for some colder weather. I hope so.

Think our weather is about to change.... unfortunately. My dogs aren't keen on wet weather either. Ah Goethe, we lived in Frankfurt, toured through his birth house.
