Another Deck Visitor

I walked into the room and saw a bird clinging to the window screen. I grabbed the camera for this shot. Thinking the bird might be caught in the wire, I quietly went out the other door to see if I could help. All right! I also wanted a clear photograph!!! But my primary mission was to help the bird.

The bird was not stuck at all. It immediately flew into the woods and I didn't get a photograph.

We are in the marginal range of the Black and White Warbler and rarely see them. They act rather like nuthatches, creeping along the bark of trees searching for insects. Wonder if there were bugs on the screen?

Interesting that within a week's time I have come upon two warblers that we don't often see. I also won a drawing from The Thundering Herd (here), and from Vicki Lane (here). Our local bird expert wrote about my Blue-winged Warbler sighting in her weekly newspaper column. I'm feeling pretty lucky. Maybe it's time to buy a lottery ticket. Oh, and since we don't like gambling around here it is the North Carolina Education Lottery since a bit of the money goes to the schools. Did you know they have scratch-offs that cost TWENTY dollars?

Neat little bird, Carolyn. I've never seen one.... I posted some 'new' to me birds (Juveniles) today.

Have a great day.
Hugs,
Betsy

Lovely to have a new visitor in the garden. I love the thought of it getting insects from your screen.....like the local birdie restaurant.

Isn't it fun seeing a new bird or other animal? I just love it. I can feel the excitement in your words!

I'd say that you ought to go do something that requires luck - maybe the lottery ticket is a good idea!

I don't buy lottery tickets, but it does sound as if this may be your week to go for it. Congratulations on your second new Warbler.

And if you win, then you can go to a South American country with impunity, as you have an equal chance of getting bitten by a venemous snake as you would winning the lotto. If you win the latter, you can't get the former!

How cool Carolyn! Indeed, maybe you should buy a lottery ticket!

You lucky duck! Had to see what goodies you'd won. At first I thought you'd won a dog. (Which would have indeed been a goodie!)

great shot of the bird. and I love your altruistic efforts, too. saving the poor stuck birdie (not!).

perhaps you get emails from Publisher's Clearing House Sweepstakes? Perhaps you will win that 5k per week for life! Unless I do.

Our current house has no screen doors (can you imagine that!) and since we don't intend to stay here we won't be putting any up... I do miss them though, there was always something interesting clinging to them!

We saw a black and white warbler for the first time a few days ago! Had to get the bird book to identify it.

Yes, I know about those $20 tickets since I'm not far from the NC state line. But I don't buy them either. Maybe you should buy just one.
I like the shot of the bird on the screen. I, too, try to get close ups, with little luck.
