LIFE'S BETTER IN THE MOUNTAINS

Fridays are Golden

Ellie and Lucy often play together. Sometimes only one of them wants to play. If Ellie wants to play and Lucy does not, then Ellie will poke a toy at Lucy until she gives in. On the other hand, if Ellie does not want to play nothing will convince her to join a game.

They have a basket full of toys but play with very few of them. Lucy's favorite by far is an old blue tug. Ellie likes the tug as well, but her favorites are tennis balls. She is rarely seen without one.

Ellie is snoozing and not interested in playing. Lucy picks up the tug.

She takes it to my husband so he will toss it behind the sofa for her to fetch. Our den is quite large with a sectional sofa and lots of room behind it. It makes for a perfect run for the girls and Lucy loves to run circles around the sofa, with or without a toy.

Here she comes on the final turn.

Ellie observes, moving only her eyes. She seems to be thinking, "What a silly dog Lucy is."

Occasionally the tug will get looped around Lucy's neck like a giant blue necklace.

She knows exactly what to do. She goes over to her bed and lies down, then scoots back until the tug is removed.

She is so proud of herself when she gets free of the tug. I swear she is so happy and full of fun that she is actually laughing.

Let's all pool our wishes that the cap on the oil rig holds. And let's think positive thoughts about the people with whom we share this planet.
Have a great weekend. I hope that at least a few times this weekend you find yourself as happy as our Lucy.

If I were Ellie, I would be thinking, I wish I had that much energy.

Hi Caroline....I am indeed praying the cap holds....it has been a long time coming. My heart breaks everytime I see the devastation.

BUT Ellie and Lucy make me smile. I love the run around with the tug, your dogs are such fun.
Ellie has such a great attitude......

Have a peaceful and joyous weekend.......

Our dogs have no interest in toys. But I keep a few in a basket for our son's and his girlfriend's dogs. These two are much like Lucy and Ellie. Ali Ali wants to play and brings the binky (a big piece of knotted rope) to Otis, poking it at him till Otis finally tries to take it.

Our dogs observe with aloof disdain as the visitors tussle. Finally Molly (the fun police) bustles over and issues a sharp warning bark at the two rowdy young uns.

Your girls always make me smile.
I will try to always be as happy and carefree as Lucy.
Praying that the 'plug' holds...this has been disastrous.

Yes---let's pray that the oil leak is finally over.... There's still so much to be done--even if it is.

Have a good weekend.

For true happiness and joy, dogs are the best! Love to watch their antics. You know, I have a dog named Lucy, too. We love to say, "You've got a lot of esssplainin' to do!"

Yes, I'm hoping the cap holds (so far so good). Sending out a lot of love to all the sea creatures and humans affected. What a life.

Ellie is so long-suffering about having that scamp, Lucy, for a housemate! Lucy has a perfect Golden smile.

Indeed, let's pray this cap holds.

I love watching all of the games that dogs invent.

I hope that I can be as happy about the small things in life as your Lucy! Actually, that's a very smart trick, her way of removing the tug!

What fun! My big boy (not a hunting dog) is great on going to pick up those tennis balls. Not so good on returning them to me. He prefers me to chase after him and try to get them. Grrrr.

I love all the pictures of Lucy and Ellie!! I am a very big animal lover, in fact, I really like animals better than most people.
The picture of Lucy smiling is priceless!!
Thanks for your visit. I never saw a quilt in my life until I was on my honeymoon with my now husdand. We went to some museums and I saw quilts. I was moon struck!!! I have sewed off and on all my life but mever had a teacher. Just struggled threw it by my self. I was married 17 or 18 years before ever trying to make a quilt. I decided it was time to join the local quilt club and find out how to do it right. I did. I was a member for 5 years.

Mingus likes his toys ... but only when he can entice me to play with him with them.

That Lucy is a fun loving and clever gal.
