This is a view of Table Rock in South Carolina. Note that the shoreline of the reservoir indicates the normal water level. Last fall the water was several feet below the shore.
Giant rock formations scatter the mountain, overhanging into the gorge.
There are many shades of spring green as the various trees fully leaf.
This long-range view gives an idea of just how dramatic the elevation drop is. The land below is more than a thousand feet lower than the land on which I stood to take the photograph.
So much attention is paid to the mountains in autumn, and deservedly so. But I really love the greens that cover the mountains in spring.

Hi Carolyn, Oh --how I'd love to see that in person. How gorgeous. As I've said many times, you do live in a beautiful area of the country. Thanks for sharing... I too love spring as well as fall.
Have a great day --and Memorial Day..
Hugs,
Betsy
I have flown over your part of the country many times and am always awe struck with the beauty. These are lovely photos.
That is incredibly beautiful. All those hues of greens and blues covering the mountains and horizon as far as the eye can see. It's just gorgeous. What a feel! To stand at that elevation and to look down upon that....really REALLY makes me want to visit that part of NC. Thanks for such a beautiful view and the reminder of just how pretty western NC is in the spring!
Have a great weekend...
Jay
Magical shots Carolyn! You know how I feel about those mountains. Thanks for the visit even if only in your great pics!
I really love our Tennessee plateau and escarpment, but have long felt that the area around you is some of the most beautiful in the country. Your photographs just make me more convinced of that.
Such beauty! Thanks for sharing.
As others have said I would love to see that landscape in person. Such gorgeous pictures.
What a beautiful part of the world you live in.....it takes my breath away, it really does.....
The way that you write makes me feel so in touch with it....tku for sharing with us......
Lovely, lovely greens ... so lush.
I agree about the green colors of the mountains in the spring - you and I seem to be among the few who focus on them. They seem wondrous to me after a long winter.
I love your photos, as always! You live in a beautiful place.
Many years ago Ronnie Milsap had a song called "Blue Ridge Mountains Turning Green"... I've been searching for a copy for years. And I've wanted to see them in the springtime for as long..... what beauty!
We live at about 4500', so our greenery has really just exploded in the last couple of weeks (was 26 F Monday morning, so frost is still a real factor). I agree with your comment about the spring being beautiful, but we think the same of summer and winter. What we most love living here is how pronounced each of the seasons are.
Thanks for sharing the wonderful pictures.
Such breath taking scenery! So serene.
Absolutely amazing. I envy you a little bit right now. Absolutely brilliant scenery. Great vista.
Carolyn,
What absolutely gorgeous mountain shots!!..It must be so nice to have these vistas so near to your home!!
I am always thrilled to see all the greens that Mother Nature can create during this time of the year!!
You are so right..the beauty of mountains is there all year round not just fall!!
I can easily see why people who've never really seen rolling hills and mountains like that find themselves drawn to be there once they can choose where to live in retirement. Simply gorgeous.
I can see why they are called the Blue Ridge mountains. They colour is so beautiful and fresh.
You really make me want to move back east. These photos of the mountains in the southeastern US are quite beautiful. A lot of good life can be lived there.
Dramatic and panoramic! All those shades of green and blue on one beautiful canvas.
Beautiful pictures. I followed you over from Carol's. Love the mountains.
Happy Holiday to you and yours.
The second pic is awesome - so beautiful there!
...like an absolutely beautiful green carpet rolling along!!
