Fridays are Golden

As regular readers know, our Lucy likes to lie right next to Ellie, often in the same bed. This picture gives you an idea of what Ellie likes. She does not like Lucy next to her and prefers to stretch out while she is resting. Lucy much prefers curling up. Just before this shot, Ellie had just gotten up and moved because Lucy decided to lie down next to her.


Now, why did she just get up and move?

One bed Ellie particularly does not want to share is in the den. There are two identical beds next to one another and Lucy often tries to get into the one Ellie is using. Ellie has learned that if she stretches out she can find a way to take up the entire bed, with no room for Lucy. Lucy will walk to every side of the bed, trying to find a tiny place to lie. The other evening, Lucy finally decided that if Ellie wouldn't make room for her in the bed, she would lie outside and use Ellie for a pillow.

Hey, she can't fool me. I know she wants me to be here.




Ellie decided to give up the bed and find another place to rest. Lucy settled in the bed all by herself, curling up on one half of the bed.

I told her there was room for both of us. Look. I'm not even taking up half the bed.

Lucy fell asleep, curled up like a kitten. Contrary to all appearances, this is a three-year-old dog, not a puppy! Ellie slept stretched out on the floor.
