We Love Lucy

Summer arrived here with a week of unseasonably hot temperatures.  It is extremely rare for us to approach 90 degrees even in August.  We've had thunderstorms most afternoons which briefly (VERY briefly) cooled the air then made everything worse with the higher humidity.  As the old saying goes, "When it's hot in the mountains, it's HOT."

So our Lucy goes for her run very early in the morning.  Then she stays inside except for those necessary little trips outdoors.  With her two coats of hair, she does not tolerate heat well at all.

She lies around most of the day.  For some reason she likes to rest her head on the rung of a chair.
(Yes, I do dust them.  The pictures were taken before cleaning day.)

She peeps out under the chair

This is where her head lies

So what?  I'm not ashamed to be here.
Silly dog

Today's quotes comes from a song I loved half a century ago.  I still love it and still play the vinyl by The Youngbloods every now and then.  (Yes, I have kept many of my old LPs and have a reproduction stereo that will play them.  There's something so soothing to listen to them and reminisce about the good old days.)
It was written by American songwriter and singer Chet Powers (who was also known as Dino Valenti)

Listen to the song I sing
You will understand.
You hold the key to love and fear
All in your own trembling hand.
Just one key unlocks them both
It's there at your command

Come on people now,
Smile on your brother
Everybody get together now
Try to love one another right now.

HAVE A WONDERFUL WEEKEND, EVERYONE
TRY TO LOVE ONE ANOTHER RIGHT NOW

Lucy looks like she found a comfy spot to wait out the heat. She's so cute!

Really nice to be reminded of this song. I just spent a few minutes googling around and reading about Chet Powers. An enduring piece of beautiful music. And, relevant as ever.

This morning I brushed our Golden and filled an entire bucket with fur! Yes, the heat is not a friend to our beloved doggies.

Hope you all cool off. We, too, are experiencing heat and have a bit of cabin fever.

Callie sympathizes with Lucy. Normally I can't get Callie inside but lately, she is very content with the high nineties chasing her inside.
I loved that song, thanks for the reminder.

I love the vision of Lucy peeking out with her chin on a chair rung! K did that as a puppy so it's a wonderful memory.

I love the song you chose for your quote!

It must be comfortable for her, but just the thought make my neck ache.

My hubby collects vinyl. Has approximately 100,000 45s and LPs.

Love that song, remember it well.
We have lots of vinyl and often play them to our Grandchildren. They think it is amazing :)

I hope ypu got some of the lovely rain we had yesterday -- about 6/10s of an inch and this morning it is deliciously cool! The way a mountain morning should be! Happy Sunday!

I love that song too and the lyrics say it all. Oh, by the way, I don't know why you dust the chair rung ...Lucy seems to do that for you !
