LIFE'S BETTER IN THE MOUNTAINS

We Love Lucy

The meteorologists missed the forecast once again.  Only this time they underestimated the snow we would receive.  So it snowed six inches or so on Monday night.  And another eight on Wednesday night.  Fortunately, Thursday brought temperatures in the 40s and the snow dropped off in big chunks as it melted from the trees.  With the above-freezing temperatures the streets are fairly clear with only a few icy spots here and there.  Yet lots of snow remains on the ground.

Lucy came out to join my husband and me while we shoveled our driveway yet again.  She walked around in the snow.  Then she shoveled the snow with her nose.  And finally she ran in zoomie circles all over the place just like she did when she was a puppy.  Quite a difference from her usual response to snow.

Wow!  There is a lot of snow.

I think something has been here before I came.

Yippee!  Watch out, Mom.  Here I come.

She seemed to really enjoy the snow every time we took her outside.  My husband had cleared a figure-eight path for her to use and she ran and ran around it before she remembered why she had come outside.

The snow in the yard was beautiful.  And best of all, the roads are mostly clear today so we are not stuck on the mountain.

Don't think we will use these chairs for a while

This is the end of February which always gives me a lift.  Just thinking about March makes it feel like spring, although we know that March often brings wintry weather.

English poet and philosopher Samuel Taylor Coleridge gives us the quote for this week:

"Advice is like snow---the softer it falls, the longer it dwells upon and the longer it sinks into the mind."

HAVE A WONDERFUL WEEKEND, EVERYONE.

Happy Friday to you! What fun to hear that Lucy was doing circles etc in the snow. Maybe she's feeling like a spring pup. Your weather and landscape looks just like ours. Today the snow is melting but more is forecast starting tomorrow and lasting through next week. We don't count it as spring until mid-May; no planting here until we are sure the snow is gone for good. I won't complain though-it is fine since I've been recuperating from surgery. If it was sunny I'd want to be outside.
Have a fantastic weekend.
Hugs, Noreen

Look at her go! Love the photos! When we visited in '08, it was snowing in mid April. Not a lot, but still snow. Glad it wasn't THAT much, or we would have been afraid to drive in it. Some of those mountain roads are plenty scary without snow on them!

I am so happy Lucy has regained her enjoyment of the snow. I love seeing a dog frolic happily in the wet stuff. You can't help but smile at the antics.
Keep enjoying the clear roads and beauty.

Oh good for Lucy, and I'm glad she enjoyed herself, as well as you enjoyed her playful nature. Spring is inevitable, our patience is stretching a bit thin however.

Nothing like a late-February/early-March snow...it comes in force, then quickly begins to melt. I LOVE Lucy's puppy pleasure with this snow! So beautiful and delightful!

That's a lot of snow you have there! Glad to see that Lucy remembered how much fun it is to romp around it. We're all waiting for spring. Soon, very soon.

So glad she's enjoying it. Bob is a serious snow dog -- lying in it, eating it, shoveling it with his nose. I wish I enjoyed it as much.

Snow zoomies!!! I'm so glad that Lucy still has that "puppy" in her heart. It was so sweet of your husband to clear her a figure 8 track for zoomies!

We are also in the midst of lots of snow. I'm glad your roads are clear so you can get out and about.

Have a great weekend.

excellent quote! so very true!

maybe Lucy liked being in the snow because she thought you were playing in it; she doesn't know work from play. Great shot of her running towards you!

After reading the previous posts about Lucy's reaction to snow, I quite agreed with her...laying in front of a warm fire is the best idea! Looks like she has decided to have some fun.

Thanks for your comments, everone.

Noreen - Yes, you do have a bit longer wait for spring

Tara - You may have something there. That was the first time we had her out while we were shoveling. And I guess it did look like fun to her.
