LIFE'S BETTER IN THE MOUNTAINS

We Love Lucy

We shop at local businesses whenever we can.  It is in everyone's best interest to keep local shops operating.  We have a local pet shop and used them for quite some time.  Their prices were a little higher but fortunately we can afford that.  We became increasingly frustrated to find they did not have our dog food and probiotic on many occasions.  This despite the fact that we would call them well ahead of time and they would assure us of a delivery date.

I read about chewy.com on several of your blogs and we decided to give them a try.  The products are far less expensive than at our local pet store.  But the selling point is their service.  In every case we have found delivery to be quick and accurate.  So we now use them for our food and treats.

Each delivery brings an excited Lucy, despite the fact that chewy does not include a cookie with the delivery.

Lucy checks out the box

 Something smells really good

 There it is

She licks her lips just thinking of those delicious Zuke's mini treats

We are disappointed that we no longer shop at one of our local stores.  But we have found chewy to be an excellent resource for pet products.

[NOTE:  Chewy has no idea we have praised them in this blog and we received nothing for it except some cute photographs and a blog entry.]

Our nation mourns the death of a journalist and the brutal murders of hundreds of civilians at the hands of ISIS.  Here in our own country we have major uprisings in Missouri and other cities.  The Palestinian/Israeli conflict continues to take lives and the people in the middle east are suffering.  In such times we fervently hope for peace.  And our thoughts go out to the innocent people, especially the children who are suffering.  And when the people suffer, so do the animals so we send thoughts for them as well.

We find ourselves so very frustrated that we can do so little to bring about peace.  And so we must focus on our own inner peace as much as possible.

Saint Francis de Sales had this to say:

"Do not lose your inner peace for anything whatsoever, even if your whole world seems upset."

HAVE A WONDERFUL WEEKEND, EVERYONE
HELP THOSE WHO ARE LESS FORTUNATE
AND WORK ON YOUR INNER PEACE

Lucy looks very happy to have those delicious treats. She is a lucky girl!

The world and its ongoing conflicts and insanity continues to blow my mind everyday in new and crazy ways. Did I ever think when I was young that in my lifetime two journalists would be beheaded? That police would be using military gear? That refugee children would not be offered refuge? That the arctic would be melting? The list is endless.

We love Mr. Chewy! We are so sad at all the things going on in the world today. Makes us not even want to turn the tv on anymore.

I agree that you have to make a purchase where the product you are looking for is available and you can count on them. Lucy looks like a satisfied customer, too.

We are with you - we shop locally whenever we can, but we can't find our dogs food locally. We do a lot of our ordering through Chewy.

Lucy is such a beautiful dog. I'm glad you found Chewy pet products. I know how frustrating it is to not be able to find products at the local store.
Lucy is a lucky girl to get such treats through the mail.

Lucy loves getting mail; just like me!
Wishing you a weekend (and lifetime) of inner peace.

I try to support the local businesses too, but had the same thing happen several months ago with the food we feed our crew -- Chewy to the rescue for us as well!

I totally agree with your thoughts about peace!

Inner peace can be very elusive but just watching Lucy I feel that she has it down cold !

Last week I went into a local gift shop that I'd never visited before & discovered that it was under new management - grand opening planned for October. I made a vow to myself that I would visit it at least once a month to support it.

Yes, peace. Amen.

We try to shop locally for the same reasons. The key is good service. Which we have. So many of our small town are losing business to the big boxes. And our small town has over 500 people who drive 30 miles to Rochester and mostly the Mayo Clinic. Many don't shop locally...:(

Look at Lucy having fun with the box. Our collies always loved boxes too.

We try to shop locally. I grew up in a small town and my father was a merchant and optometrist, so I know how much shopping locally means to families.

I love Lucy's excitement over her package!

Inner peace -- I look for it in the garden. . . canning tomatoes and applesauce this afternoon . . .

Dear Lucy.....everyone need a treat now and again :)
I try to use local as much as I can.....often I cannot get the things I need, so unfortunately have to elsewhere.

I feel overwhelmed sometimes by the sadness in the world.
BUT I do not let it figure too much in my daily life.
I pray each night for peace, for suffering to end............
I do not know what else to do.

Like you I prefer local but sometimes you just have to punch a key to get what you want.
Sad to realize that times have not improved much since Saint Francis' time. It is hard not to have a heavy heart.

I'm so glad to hear your unbiased great opinion of Chewy.com. We have some similar frustrations with our local shop. We hate to abandon them but...

We have spent almost all of August camping in the mountains. My husband listens to NPR while we're camping (with earphones). Each time I asked him for a synopsis of world affairs, it sounded so awful. In a nutshell, the middle east seems as if it's been in a state of war for my entire lifetime. So very depressing.
