Last Monday I shared photographs of the vase I chose during our recent visit to Leftwich Pottery Open House. It is only fitting that I also share the one my husband selected.
He chose a deep blue with bear cubs on it. The piece is also done in the Wedgewood style with layers and layers of glaze. There are four little cubs racing around the vase.
Simple in appearance but difficult in process
We both love this piece
We have an eclectic collection of art and pottery. It would not fit into any decorator's theme. And there's a simple reason for that. We buy what we like, pieces that make us smile or move us for some reason. And we have never regretted a single purchase.
Our artwork has meaning to us and gives us pleasure as we look at the various pieces around the house. And isn't that what art is supposed to do?

I am a Wedgewood fan also. Your piece is really nice. I like the eclectic look too. I can't settle on one theme. I used to have a lot of pottery and art pieces, but I have downsized. I know one day we will have to move to a smaller place, so I am getting rid of things slowly. It is often hard to part with them.
Had a lengthy conversation with my middle son, just recently, over art. He has left his apartment rather bland over the years. He keeps saying things about style, etc. I told him to just get something you like and stop worrying about how it will look. What matters is how much you like it and that it suits your personality!
I love this! I am also a believer that you surround yourself with what you love!
your art philosophy is exactly right. i don't like houses and art collections that look too put together and planned...I want verve, surprise, and delight in my surroundings. I don't want my living space to look like a Macy's showroom.
I agree with your readers. Over the years, my house has become a museum of things I love, not necessarily what is in style or looks best in the room.
I have my own paintings, my sister's sculpture, which is beautiful, photographs taken by my late husband and special gifts from dear friends and family. I, love handmade pottery and living here I find it everywhere.
thanks for a nice post.
I love your husbands choice ... the color and the happy little critters make it "beary" adorable.
Another stunning piece. I love the particular shade of blue, and the bear cubs are a wonderful touch of whimsy.
Eclectic works for me as well. My spouse not so much...:)
I love this light-hearted take on the Wedgewood style.
