Words Not Needed

Imagine that:  .22 caliber rifles designed and marketed specifically for children.  Petite in size but equally deadly.  Just ask the mom and dad of the Kentucky child who shot and killed his little sister.  It was his own gun, a Crickett, given as a birthday gift.  The birthday boy is five.  His sister was two.

what a sad commentary on the state of the union....

Guns are not toys, and no five year old is "old enough" for the responsibility of a gun. In my mind, the parents are fully culpable. So very sad.

Our national obsession with guns is just so sad.

The marketing is sickening, but it doesn't excuse the utter foolishness of giving into something like that and purchasing a gun for a child who is too young to understand the concept that death is permanent.

When I read about that I was appalled that the child was only 5 years old and given a gun. What were they thinking?

Those parents don't have the brains of a piss ant!

Too sad for words.

I find this the ultimate in our crazed world of guns. Giving a child a real gun, the parents should have their parental rights taken away. I know that is harsh to say but they do not have a sense of harm. -- barbara

Thanks for your comments, everyone.

Bad as the parents may feel, they must accept the blame for their daughter's tragic death. Giving a five-year-old a gun is bad enough, but allowing him access to it is unforgivable.
