Our dogs give us pleasure and we have fun with them. We even enjoy them when they are quiet. Often their positions and expressions make us smile.
Lots of floor space, but Lucy needs a pillow so she uses Ellie.
Two dogs strung out in tandem.
Ellie is pretending she did not bring a tennis ball upstairs.
Don't even think of making me get up.
October is upon us and we are having perfect autumn weather with chilly nights and sunny days. There's a bit of color here and there. Needless to say the Golden Girls are loving the crisp morning air.
I am an advocate for democracy, but the rhetoric I have heard from "the man in the streets" this week has led me to believe that Sir Winston Churchill had it right:
The best argument against democracy is a five-minute conversation with the average voter.
Here's hoping that you and your loved ones are safe from harm. Think a while about those who are not and if you can help them, then do so.
HAVE A WONDERFUL AND SAFE WEEKEND!

Ah Golden Fridays. My Favorite posts of all. Beautiful girls......
happy friday! the goldens look happy...when isn't a golden happy!? i'm happy this friday after seeing Obama in Madison....he was definitely on his game yesterday....let's hope he gets the next debate right!
xoxo
LOL at the Churchill quote. So true. Happy October!
Nice to see the Golden Girls this Friday morning! Love the Churchill quote.
I saw someone on facebook advocating (I assume facetiously) for a benevolent dictator :)
Love your girls!
LOL - sometimes the ideal we strive for is not the reality we should have. I love that quote from Churcill.

Love seeing the girls!
We're getting a little cooler, but the days are still pretty warm. Sunday is supposed to be a high in the 70s. I'm ready!
My experience yesterday involved several men that meet each afternoon in a coffee house that I sometimes visit. They talk loud so other tables can hear their conversations clearly. They are Republicans. Their talk today was one of befuddlement. They couldn't figure what Obama was up to in the debate. I say lets keeps the Republican voter befuddled. Sorry Republicans, I just have to be honest with what I say. -- barbara
As always, your girls make me smile. Hope you have a wonderful fall weekend; we've got snow coming and I'm not ready!
Hugs, Noreen
You are always so wise with your words...I love that.
I too enjoy seeing how our dogs end up during rest time....they are so funny!
Enjoy your crisp weekend.
XO
Loved catching up on all your posts - been so busy and haven't got around to reading as I used to! Still enjoy your writing and your golden girls! God bless!
Who me? A ball? No way... :)
I can only imagine that the debate completely confused any undecided voter... since one candidate changed his positions on almost everything.
Love the quote!
I heartily support democracy--until I shop in a place such as W*lmart and get behind someone in line--then I think: "her vote counts the same as mine." Makes me shudder.
Love the Churchill quote -- yep, the downside of democracy is that so many uninformed people get to vote.
Love those sweet faces of Ellie and Lucy.
I wish the voter were more informed. Read both sides, and everything in the middle. America lives on sound bites...ugh!
Every time I see the girls I just want to bury my hands in their fur. I think they would be my perfect nap-mates.
Churchill quote still rings true. Trouble is, we all think that everyone else is that average voter, and they are thinking that about us! My dad is horrified and my political views, and I am of his. We inhabit completely different realities. God Bless the USA.
A reminder though he also said "democracy is the worst form of government... except for all the rest."
I had to laugh,Carolyn, about you comment on the dogs comical resting positions. On a recent camping trip Baron got to sleep on the floor of the camper. He is never allowed on funiture so what do I find at 4 a.m. He is snuck up on a very narrow couch sound asleep with his long long legs sticking straight out over the side. Sneaky Pete...:)
There is almost no way to escape the escalating rhetoric, is there?
I take it all is well with the dogs and the kennel cough is gone. I sure hope so.
Thanks for your comments,everyone!
kks - I was glad to see him back on his game but I'm still devastated by his debate performance.
Linthead - I can tell by your posts that you are also loving October.
Sam - good point and true.
Barbara - Around here I have to close my ears to the conversations. I hear more misconceptions in the grocery stores than you can imagine.
Noreen - it's colder here but thank goodness we're not expecting snow. Wonder what little Hunter will think of it?
KB - I think it was the changing positions that annoyed me most.
Donna - I also look around at some folks and lament that their votes count just as much as mine. My husband has been known to whisper to me, "And they get to vote."
Vicki - My son says we can never underestimate the effect of uninformed people voting in large numbers.
Tara - So true. My own brother and I are so far apart we just don't discuss politics.
Troutbirder - I'm laughing thinking of the image of long Baron on a short bed.
Rudee - Thanks for asking. Yes, Lucy is just fine...in fact did not cough even once after we canceled our trip.
