LIFE'S BETTER IN THE MOUNTAINS

Fridays Are Golden

Golden dogs amid golden flowers, running on a sunny day.  What could be better than a day in June?  We try to take our dogs to quiet places within our community where they can run with abandon.  They get plenty of normal exercise with three walks every day, but nothing beats being able to run free.

As usual, Lucy takes off like a rocket and then sprints back to us, smiling all the way.

Ellie runs through the wildflowers.  She is all smiles as well.

The girls race up and down the hill.  I get tired just watching.

Trotting now instead of running.  They have made the trip up and down the very big hill several times.

Ellie walks on her final trip up.

Beautiful days such as this one allow our minds to wander as freely as the dogs.  For a while we forget all our worries and concerns and just enjoy the happiness that comes with being out with the dogs.

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY to all the fathers out there.  Hope it is a good one for all of you.

The quote for the week is credited to Nathaniel Hawthorne in some places and to Henry David Thoreau in others.  I'm choosing Thoreau because I like him better:

"Happiness is like a butterfly; the more you chase it, the more it eludes you, but if you turn your attention to other things, it will come and sit softly on your shoulder."

May happiness find you and sit on your shoulder this week.

HAVE A WONDERFUL AND HAPPY WEEKEND, EVERYONE!!!

those sloppy doggie smiles are to die for! what a great run in the flowers.

Love the quote -- so true.

We are having a brunch for dad on Sunday -- so glad to still have a father in my life. Even a father who is sometimes a real pain in the arse.

I love that quote.....I have it on my letter holder in the kitchen....a gentle reminder.

Seeing the golden girls made me smile, pure, carefree and beautiful.
I walked Nella today along the river bank and realised that life is so sweet, when we enjoy the little things :)

Have a lovely weekend with the girls .....

I love the colors of your goldens. I was hoping for the lighter color with our. His mom is a Scottish Golden and his dad is a darker Golden. Alas, he takes after his dad.

Happy Weekend to you and yours!

Ellie and Lucy sure know how to make the best use of a field of colorful flowers. I got tired just watching them get tired out. Enjoy your weekend too!

I wish we could do that! Monty has absolutely no recall despite our efforts - we need a safe place for him to run!

Dogs are meant to run. We are keeping our son's Border Collie pup while he is traveling and are reluctant to let him off leash. Fortunately a friend with a large, fenced-in yard is letting us play ball with him in her yard. There's pure joy on his face when he runs!

I love those pictures of the girls running through the wild flowers. They're very sweet. You should hang those so you have something to look forward to in the winter.

Golden girls in a field of golden flowers. You do know how to set a stage...!

Last week at the dog park I saw a really pretty dog--part chow, part golden. Picture a Golden Retriever with puffy hair. Beautiful dog, but I couldn't help but picture the shedding, too! The owner had gotten him from Pet Smart--a rescue dog. It was the first dog he'd ever owned and he said that their daily walks had lowered his cholesterol and blood pressure and gotten his diabetes under control. The dog's diet? The guy cooks two boneless, skinless chicken breasts, basmati rice, and stir-fried vegetables every day for the dog.

What a happy pair of girls. They seem absolutely perfect. So happy, so well behaved, and so loving.

I like that quote. I had a Swallowtail Butterfly land on me while I rode my bike the other day. He clung to me for about 10 seconds. It was a special moment as I tried to focus on steering my bike rather than the beautiful creature on my arm.
