LIFE'S BETTER IN THE MOUNTAINS

Fridays are Golden

The girls start getting excited when I put on my hiking boots.  Not certain whether they will be going along, they prance excitedly around the hallway outside my bedroom door.  It isn't until my husband brings in their portable water dish and their water bottle that they know for sure they are going someplace fun.

Ellie licks her lips in anticipation.
Oh boy!  I can hardly wait!

Lucy watches my husband lock the door.
Why on earth does it take him so long?

Too bad the girls never appreciate the beautiful greening of the forest.

They are far too busy running up and down and up and down the hill.

Can you sit for a moment?
Smile for the camera.

Lucy takes off again, still smiling.

The weather has been nearly perfect for us.  Cold nights and sunny days.  We did have three nights with hard freezes and some of the vulnerable apple trees will be significantly affected.  Other apple varieties were past the point of harm and the strawberry crops are fine.

We get so caught up in the unconditional love our Golden Girls give us that we need to remember what Ann Landers said:
Know yourself.  Don't accept your dog's admiration as conclusive evidence that you are wonderful.

And Dr. Seuss gives us the quote of the week:
Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind.

Take care on this Friday the Thirteenth.

HAVE A WONDERFUL WEEKEND, EVERYONE!!!

Oh, and if you haven't done your taxes you have until Tuesday to do so.

Just sayin'

Your Seuss and Landers quotes are going up in chalk on my old school house blackboard that I keep in my hallway (for now) for favorite quotes. -- barbara

Smiley dogs - a great way to enjoy a Friday the 13th :)

P.S. You're right about the dessert - I ordinarily get something like that about once a month. That Joanne is a BAD influence on me - I told her that next Tuesday there will be NO ICE CREAM! Maybe.

I beg to differ here...I think they are absolutely demonstrating their appreciation of their surroundings.

Sorry about the apple trees. It's been an unusual spring.

Our strawberries have been so wonderful this years!!! For weeks now we have had at least 25 to 40 berries everyday!! Big beautiful berries!!! We would have more but we are sharing with the critters!!
We have 220 plants and next year we will have 440 plants probably if they multiply like they did last year.
Love the Golden's smile!!!

It's good to see that the girls enjoy hiking as much as you and your husband do. We've been fortunate to have had no freezes, but we'll be glad when the nights are a little warmer.

Hi there, Oh how I love your girls! I am hungering for time with some pups! Loved seeing the area where you hike and seeing the freedom your dogs love.
Have a great weekend.

I really believe that everyone loves me as much as my dogs do. It makes it easier to sleep at night. :)
Love seeing your happy girls! Enjoy your weekend.

This a very familiar scenario with Baron. Boots on, binocs in hand, he's waiting excitedly to jump in the back of the truck. And who says Ann Landers understands the wisdom of dogs??? :)

It's Friday again and your girls are as cheerful as always. Happy, happy gals.

I like that Dr. Seuss quote!

It's funny how dogs seem to know when something fun (for them) is about to happen. I think our dog Daisy recognizes the hiking boots and riding boots. She knows it's time to get excited and make sure she gets a place in the truck as soon as possible.

Love Dr. Seuss! Our dogs get excited when Charlie puts his sunglasses on-- that means boat time!

Thanks for your comments, everyone.

Bug - Ice cream is very good for you.

Rudee - You're right. But their appreciation is more focused.

Animal/quilt lover - Oh, we are just now getting strawberries from SC. They are delicious.
