LIFE'S BETTER IN THE MOUNTAINS

Winter Sky

Snow fell on many areas in western NC.  We did not get any snow and I don't mind at all.   We got some cold weather with strong winds at times.  This morning dawned beautiful, cold and calm.  Not long after sunrise, I noticed a series of clouds in the sky that looked almost like giant contrails.  The remainder of the sky was cloudless and (of course) Carolina Blue.  Here is the view from our deck this morning.

The sky is the daily bread of the eyes.
Ralph Waldo Emerson

The clouds---the only birds that never sleep.
Victor Hugo

It must be nice to see such a pretty sight in winter. Our skies are mundane and gray. Seeing some sunshine makes a world of difference in a person's affect.

It's a lousy, cold, rainy day here. Glad yours is better AND that you posted photos for me to enjoy, since I don't have those views available. Thanks!

Oh...you have captured the southern Appalachians I love so much. You had enough snow last year to last for several years! The relatively barren slopes, the gorgeous skies with their interesting clouds...yes, such a lovely place and time for hiking. Thank you, my friend, for this and for your ongoing encouragement and support.

We have had some great skies lately, tonight included. Looks like you might get some of that white stuff tonight. I am hoping for some rain.

Ralph knew what he was talking about. You are happy no snow, I am crying no snow.

I like your winter sky. We're being told to expect another round of storms, so it may be a few days before we see blue skies again.

We came through your area on Sunday afternoon and I was surprised not to find snow, but there was plenty once we got into the I-40 canyon. We even had a little here when we got home.

I love that Emerson quote. I've been photographing the sky almost daily lately. Have fallen in love with clouds. Pure magic up there!

Beautiful views. The snow missed us too-I wish we had gotten some!
