LIFE'S BETTER IN THE MOUNTAINS

Fridays are Golden

Yesterday, for the first time in a month, our high temperature was actually below "normal."  While we have truly enjoyed the mild weather, we are ready for more seasonal temperatures.  I only hope the awakening flora can fall asleep again.

For this Friday, more photographs of the Golden Girls slumbering after a long run.

Ooh! Looks as if Lucy has only one eye.

Never mind.  It's Ellie's paw where Lucy is resting her head.

Lucy!  Why do you have to lie all over Ellie?
Because I am the princess.
Besides, she could move if she wanted to.

At least this time only Lucy's head is on Ellie.

I know that there are people who do not care for dogs, especially not dogs who live inside the house, and most especially not dogs inside the house who shed long golden hair.  But I cannot imagine our lives without dogs.  Even when we are really old, we will have at least one dog.  The dog might have to be smaller to accomodate our decreased mobility, but we will adapt to a little dog just as we hope to adapt to advancing age.

Our Golden Girls add so much humor, love, and joy to our lives.
As Samuel Butler said,
"All animals except man, know that the principal business of life is to enjoy it."

And of dogs, Mark Twain wrote,
"I love a dog.  He does nothing for political reasons."

HAVE A WONDERFUL JOYFUL WEEKEND, EVERYONE!

Well your girls are certainly gorgeous. It's too bad we can't involve dogs in politics - I think it could only improve things :)

I pray the day never comes when we are too old for goldens. Life would be so dull without their lively personalities and their red/blonde fur on every inch of furniture and clothing we own!

We had to downsize when our Mastiffs both died, realizing that as we both had back backs, we just couldn't deal with 150+ pound dogs. But dog love comes in all sizes.

I know you love your dogs, your writings say it in everyway they can. It makes me happy to know the golden girls have a good home and are cared for.

When I walk Nella I see dogs that are tied in the garden and sleep in kennels at night. They get little attention and are just working dogs. Every dog should have some attention and affection during their day :)

God bless the golden girls, Fridays would just not be the same without them.

Life is not complete without a dog. I can't imagine being dog free. It would be too lonely and a little hair never hurt anyone. A person who has never had a dog has never experienced the pleasure of unconditional love.

Love the Twain quote! Love your dogs...pretty fond of you, too, my friend. You made my inner dog wag his tail. Princess Lucy is hilarious, and Queen Ellie is so benevolent...we could learn a lot from her.

Pets add joy to our lives, even though we are petless at the moment, we fondly remember our cats and dogs. We are currently petless, but enjoy seeing the neighbor's pets dogs.

We thought Madi was going to be shorthaired....NOT!! I just tell new friends we have a cat period..fact stated no apologies!! The cat is family and she does not get displaced or shut away.

Very sweet photos of your girls. Mine don't touch each other when they are sleeping....especially nobody touches the old lady (who will be 18 in a week)-- she gets very grouchy.
Happy Friday

There is nothing like the unqualified love of a dog.
And, we found the best way to assuage our grief when our dog Tipper died was to get another dog. We lasted all of one month without a dog--and promptly went out and found Ziva.

You could have never convinced me I would ever be without a dog. Ever. I miss mine so much. Hubby seems to think if we get another one, it might outlive us. He might be right, but it sure doesn't keep me from longing for one.
