LIFE'S BETTER IN THE MOUNTAINS

Fridays are Golden

How can it be Friday again so soon?  The waning days of 2011 are just flying by.  Our weather has been bipolar this week.  Heavy rains, followed by a cold front.  Fortunately the predicted snow did not appear and by week's end the sun burst out to brighten our lives (and show every little particle of dust and dander).

We often take the Golden Girls to places where they can run free.  Sometimes we go to large cemeteries or our less popular community trails but most often we go to one of the four lakes within the community.  The girls love racing up and down the steps leading to the various docks along the lake.  And it is great exercise for them.

They always run in tandem starting up the stairs.

Still together as they race to the top.

You already know that they often lie in the same bed.  Surprisingly enough, they also lie together on the hard floor.  It is rare to find one dog without the other.

The holiday season is in full swing.  Everyone is anxious and busy.  Like children, we get so caught up in the mad rush that we never slow down.  And because we have been so rushed and anxious, many of us suffer a post-holiday letdown.  Stop.  Take a deep breath.  (just don't forget to exhale)  Repeat often and remind yourself that this is a season of peace, not panic.

Seneca the Younger said it well:
Expecting is the greatest impediment to living.  In anticipation of tomorrow it loses today.

HAVE A WONDERFUL WEEKEND, EVERYONE!

AND SLOW DOWN TO ENJOY THE PRESENT

When I saw your post title I had the same thought - what, it's Friday already? Which is funny because I KNOW it's Friday & am looking forward to my couple of days off of work :)

I could stand to run up some stairs myself - I need to get a buddy like Lucy & Ellie have.

If I had four legs I could probably still run too! So fun to see your dynamic duo! One of my two legs is giving me pain due to an old knee injury and it's down to simply walking! --- No panic here for us in this season. This year is more reflective as we deal with health challenges. But it's all good because God is good and gives a peace that does pass human understanding! Blessings for a meaningful Advent and a joyful Christmas!

Your advice is perfect -- we do need to slow down even if there are no roses to smell today. Your girls also have wonderful advice -- it's better to do things with a partner.
Have a great weekend.

I look forward to your Friday posts (and all your posts)as I have a golden retriever too -- just one. I love seeing pics of your Golden Girls. I hope you continue to post the pics and write. BTW I believe too the life is better in the mountains!

I'm breathing. I'm breathing. I think I am anyway. :)
Wise words of advice, time flies so fast and it is hard to remember to enjoy every little minute of it.
Wishing your family a beautiful non-bi-polar weekend!!

We have had a lot of rain this week too, and now it has turned to greasy, light snow. I must say I look forward to January and lengthening days. Your girls are very synchronized.

And I'm a very thankful hospice nurse to have finally reached the end of the week. Again. Four hours to go and I plan on taking your advice for every minute of the weekend.

As usual, I love seeing the girls at rest and at play!

If I go any slower, they might bury me thinking I'm dead. I find the most holiday spirit on Dec. 26th, when it's over and there's no more anticipation, or anxiety about it. That's when it's the most enjoyable!

Have a wonderful weekend!

That last picture is so cute! Mirror images! Did they look at you because you called them, because they heard the camera, or because they were checking to see what you were doing? When Miss P hears the camera, she gets up and moves. Your girls are born models.

Peace not panic. Exactly. One benefit of heading 1000 miles off to the desert is that 3 days of decorating, rearranging and extra cleaning is not required. So the joys of family and the season to you and yours Carolyn. Take care now.... :)

I love the quote...an excellent reminder at any time, but especially during the holidays.

The girls, as always, are a delight to see. If I ever meet them, I will feel an instant kinship with them because of your posts.

Have a lovely, lovely weekend up there in the mountains!

Hi there, So glad you haven't gotten the snow yet. Loved seeing your girls running together and of course laying down together. I agree that we do need to slow down and enjoy life for it passes all too quickly.
Have a wonderful weekend.
Hugs, Noreen

Thanks for your comments, everyone.

Bug - Time really does fly.

Karin - Hope your bum knee doesn't get worse.

George - But you have roses to smell all summer and fall.

Sherri - Thanks for dropping by. We have a large plaque that says, "Life is better in the mountains."

Suz - I was thinking of you especially. You do buzz around like a busy bee.

Ruth - I start watching the lengthening of the days on December 22nd. Milliseconds a day at first, but still on the right path.

Rudee - Hope you made it through the four hours and had a good weekend.

Ms A - I also enjoy the week after Christmas.

merrily - They looked because I walked up, they pay little attention to the camera.

troutbirder - Right back at you!

Tara - The girls love everyone and would snuggle up to you if you saw them.

NanaNor - And peace to your household as well.

Ginnie - No, the girls are not sisters but they did come from the same breeder. You have to go back three generations to find a common ancestor, a Grand Champion named "Gambler." So I guess that makes them cousins three times removed.

Deano - Thanks
