LIFE'S BETTER IN THE MOUNTAINS

Fridays are Golden

I see no reason to vacuum dog hairs from every room in the house.  So the Golden Girls are not permitted in the guest suite or the master suite.  They sleep very comfortably in their own beds.  In fact, they have a room of their own.

The girls know and respect the boundaries.  Here they are looking inside at me, clearly wanting me to come out of there.  Often they will lie on the floor just outside the open bedroom door.

One boundary Lucy does not respect is the imaginary division in the dog beds.  (Remember the imaginary line you established with your sibling in the backseat of the car?  "Mom, she put her hand on MY side!")  She decides to take her half of the bed in the very center, leaving Ellie pushed under the chair.

Why do the dogs prefer this particular bed when there are so many others around?  Simple answer to that.  This chair is my husband's and when he is sitting in it his left hand is down patting a dog or two.

 Really, Ellie are you comfortable?

 Well, Mom.  Not so much.

"Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life.  Don't be trapped by dogma---which is living with the results of other people's thinking.  Don't let the noise of others' opinions drown your own inner voice.  And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition.  They somehow already know what you truly want to become.  Everything else is secondary."

HAVE A WONDERFUL WEEKEND, EVERYONE!

Awwww!!! Such beautiful girls. I was deeply saddened by the news that Steve Jobs had died, though I knew he was in very bad shape. That same day, the Rev. Fred Shuttlesworth passed away. He was a founding member of the SCLC, and it may truly be said of him that "he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities." May they now reside in light perpetual.

Such good girls! I love that they adhere to their boundaries.

I was sad to hear about Steve Jobs too. He was a complicated person, and I've never used any apple products (that I know of), but the loss of his vision is pretty tough.

I love these pictures!! Ellie and Lucy know where to get a 'hand' out!! Very power quote too from Mr. Jobs. The Apple store at the local mall is accepting and posting handwritten notes in his memory and folks are leaving bouquets and apples at the store front.

We are an Apple household here--iPhones, iPods and MacBooks. I appreciate the quote you posted here, for it is truly moving. I have the same one up on my site. The innovations Steve Jobs brought to us mere mortals will be truly missed.

As always, I love looking at your girls.

I wish my dogs knew more boundaries....we can only blame that on the humans of our house. :)
I am saddened to see Mr. Jobs has passed on; what an innovator he was. I love this quote...so smart.
My Father (and husbands G'ma) also passed away from pancreatic cancer, and I keep hoping they are going to find a cure. ONE. Day, hopefully.
Have a lovely weekend!

Those girls have it all figured out!

The entire world has lost so much, with the passing of Steve Jobs. May he rest in peace.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Those good girls! I think I'll show this post to the canine and feline brats I live with. Alas, it's my own damn fault, to quote Jimmy Buffet.

Enjoyed the post on Pisgah Forest too!

Good girls! Now my big guy has house boundaries also..... but it's constant struggle. He is in the "teenage" year now. :)

Our boundaries over the years keep relaxing, so we now find Sibes everywhere. Oh well, they are fun to cuddle with.

I love the bed photos of the girls! They're personalities are so distinctive, especially when it comes to bed etiquette.

I loved that quote by Steve Jobs. People might think that others who follow their inner voices without worrying about dogma are crazy - but, in fact, they're probably the happiest people around.

Enjoy your weekend! It's snowing here...

I always enjoy seeing pictures of Lucy enjoying Ellie's bed. Ellie is definitely a good sport.
Thanks for the quote from Steve Jobs. I've been an Apple user since the original Apple II.

Ellie and Lucy are beautiful. My best gal pal, Belle, is a golden, so I have a soft spot for those girls.

Love that patient, yet not entirely happy look on Ellies face. Perhaps she is smart and gets the most petting in that spot.
Wonderful words to live by from a man who walked the talk.

Aaah sweet Ellie, such a gentle soul.
Nella is not allowed upstairs and obeys the rules (it took a long time). I agree with you, there are enough dog hairs to clean up in other areas :0)

I felt terrible sad when I heard that Steve Jobs had passed away....amazing man

Who minds not being able to go in the master bedroom when they have a sister around?!

We have the granddog visiting this weekend and she and Miss Piggy keep taking each other's bed. Doesn't seem to bother them.

Thanks for your comments, every single one.

Linthead - Yes, we were indeed saddened by Fred Shuttlesworth's passing as well. It concerns me that so many people do not know of his works.

Bug - Surely you have an iPod. If not, get one and you will never be without it.

Madi's Mom - Yes, if my husband is in a chair both dogs are nearby.

Rudee - You can be sure that my next laptop will be a MacBook.

Suz - Few people survive pancreatic cancer. Sorry it has affected your own family.

Nezzy - They are always around for some petting.

Vickie - You made me laugh. I never criticize the way other people manage their dogs and cats. I am a firm believer that you always have the kind of dog you wanted.

Troutbirder - Don't you love it when they tell you that German Shepherds have such a long adolescence?

Herd - It's almost like the latest born children getting off easy. If my husband had his way, the dogs would have free rein all over the house.

KB - Yes, Ellie and Lucy definitely have very different personalities.

George - Interestingly enough, we have not had an Apple computer since we had the Apple II. I still would love to have that keyboard. And my next laptop will definitely be an Apple.

Goose - Thanks for dropping by.
