Fox News decided to turn this advertisement into a "news" story. One of their medical "experts" said the ad was "...blatant propanda celebrating transgendered children..." Another said the ad is a "dramatic example of the way our culture is being encouraged to abandon all trappings of gender identity."
Give us a break!!! Jenna Lyons said in the words accompanying the photograph, "Lucky for me I ended up with a boy whose favorite color is pink. Toenail painting is way more fun in neon." Apparently those words further inflamed the "experts" at the fair-and-balanced-reporting network. [Purely personal prejudice: I don't think Fox likes J. Crew much anyway. After all, our First Lady often wears their clothing.]
When J. Crew was contacted for comment they responded that they had no comment because there was no issue. Good response.
Now I've got to run. I'm going Online to buy something from J. Crew. We don't have a store here.

Ooookaaayyy - the government shouldn't poke their noses into my private life, but Fox News is allowed to determine how I raise my children? Seriously, these people make NO sense!
Oh my. What a non issue. And I heard all about this a.m. The non TV watcher (me) was sitting in the waiting room, below the TV, along with about a dozen other people waiting for their colonoscopy. Something called The View was on. I could only hear it, not see it above my head but nothing outrageous was being said although there was a lot of interrupting & yelling ala McGoughlin Report. This is news? btw... once my spouse painted my toes purple but it didn't lead me into a gender change. :)
If it wasn't for the reliability of these silly social issue hot buttons, Fox News would have to create non-news about something else.
You know, hubby and I got rid of our cable 4 years ago - and we haven't missed it. We don't see any television, and if we are really interested in a program we rent it or use Netflix. We don't get the small-minded opinions on certain topics or have to listen to people make news out of a story that isn't. We won't go back. And we will order from J-Crew too!

I've come over from Donna at kgmom. This just made me laugh. I think they should all go out and rent the '40s movie National Velvet. Living in the quaint English countryside, one scene has two daughters painting the toenails of their little brother. I don't remember anyone getting upset over that! In fact it is one of the cutest parts of the movie...
what idiotic fear mongers they are over a FIXED NUZ. Remember the whole hubhub over Teletubbies for crying out loud?!?
J Crew just got another customer!
I thought the ad was really cute.
I saw the hoopla on NBC's Today show yesterday too....
This will make you feel MUCH better!

Well if you don't know by now, I'm a bleeding heart liberal, so I won't comment on Fox "news". Oops...I think I just did.
I will say that when my youngest was first diagnosed with developmental delays, one way we got her to pay attention to her feet so she watched where she walked, was to pain her toes outlandish colors. If she had been a he, we'd have used the same technique.
Fox should not stick their collective noses where they aren't wanted.
I don't blame you... I'm going online to buy some J. Crew stuff too!!!!
I just saw this same topic on another blog. It's amazing that such a innocent picture should cause such a hoopla. Wow!
Oh dear god! Fox "News" needs to get a life.
Thanks for your comments, everyone.
Troutbirder: Hope your test was fine and not as painful as having to listen to Fox. Same thing at our little hospital.
Robin: I think they already create some of their stuff.
Sam: We don't watch much television either. Thank goodness for Netflix.
Possumlady: Thanks for dropping by. I had forgotten about that scene.
Tara: I had forgotten about that little gay Teletubbie. I understand that hundreds of people sent him a Teletubbie.
Merrily: Yes, I always get a good laugh from Jon Stewart.
Vickie: I agree and so do the people who get all their information from them.
I've seen two other blogs that mentioned this J. Crew ad. They all agreed with you which is a good thing.
Thats totally nuts of Fox news and whoever else made a big deal out of this.
