LIFE'S BETTER IN THE MOUNTAINS

Fridays are Golden

Well, folks.  College hoops just doesn't get much better than it was yesterday.  I had little interest in the outcomes of the first two games but they were so well-played and evenly matched teams the games were fun to watch.  I had tremendous interest in the last two games.  They were not close games at all.  My son and his wife are Butler University grads so I was delighted to see the team handily defeat Wisconsin.  (Not everyone who lived in Wisconsin is a Badger fan.)  And we are definitely in the ABD (Anybody But Dook) group so we were equally pleased to see them pack it up and go home.  I don't have a lot of hope that the UNC 'Heels will go past their game today but you never know.  In March we schedule our lives around the games.  It truly is "March Madness" around here.

But I digress from the Golden Girls.  They love the milder weather when they can spend more time on the deck and the porch.  They especially love the upper deck because it isn't screened and is very high, affording them a large amount of woods to look at.  They watch the squirrels, the chipmunks, the deer and the birds.  You never know what will catch their eyes and noses.

Lucy is fascinated by something below the deck.

Ellie looks down as well.

They move to another corner of the deck to get a better view.

They move back again.  What can be so interesting this time?

It's the formerly injured player.  Our birdfeeders hang on hooks over the deck railing and he's using the leaf blower to scatter the leftover seeds into the woods.  And he didn't take the Golden Girls with him this time.  So they can only watch.

Exhausted from all that observation they settle in for a nap.

It's hard to believe that the days of March are dwindling.  How does the time go by so fast?  Whatever your plans for the weekend, I hope you have a good one.  For us?  We're expecting rain and more basketball.

HAVE A WONDERFUL WEEKEND EVERYONE!

We have the same feelings about Dook around here. Glad to see them pack it up, too. As you can see, we get love the season of college hoops playoffs.

I love the way your dogs appear to be stuck together with velcro. It's good to see your injured player up and making the rounds.

Oh I'm so sad - I thought I liked you & Rudee, but now I'm not so sure :) I'm ABC myself (an NC State fan, lord help me). No team that won last night was supposed to win according to my bracket. Oh well - I was glad to see Butler win :)

Love pix of the Girls looking curiously over the deck! And also the photo of them sleeping together - really so excellent seeing how much they love each others' company! Very sweet!
Wish we knew more about the "Madness stuff!"
Good luck!

Much like you my life is full of madness - NCAA March madness. I am hooked on basketball. Last night was fantastic seeing Duke get beat and I am a huge Butler fan too. I hope Butler goes all the way this year. More than anything I am hoping for a major defeat of Kansas and their coach Bill Self(ish).

HI Carolyn, I agree about the ballgames. I always love to see teams like Butler win... Richmond and VCU are two of my fav's also--and those games are tonight....

Your Goldens were exhausted with all of that observation, I'm sure... Glad hubby is doing so well...

Hugs,
Betsy

Sounds like a good weekend to spend indoors with the Girls! We are very dry in Denver and could use some rain.

Our weekend forecast is snow! And to add a little more to the misery we meet with the accountant this weekend to do our taxes.

Hope your weekend has more chipper plans than ours!

Here at my parents' house, it's March Madness as well. They feel the same way about DOOK! Whassup with D? I enjoy watching some of the games -- but tonight I am taking a break from all the 'hoopla.'

As always, the girls are sweet and a pleasure to see!

GO, BUTLER!!! Dook has already put me in last place in the family pool. I love the Butler coach and the way the team conducts itself.

Must tell The But that we're State fans, too, but it is a cruel, punishing addiction. (It won't happen, but oh, to get that Butler coach to Raleigh!)

We've enjoyed seeing VCU do well just because the sports 'experts' put them down so firmly.

Listen to me run on and I'm not even that much of a basketball fan unless I have a grandson in the game. i suppose that's why they call it madness.

As a former Hoosier I want Butler to go all the way this year. It was a great game.
I'm sure the girls think that blowing the leftover seed into the woods would have gone better if they had been down there to help.

The March Madness play has been fantasic! Last night's game was heart-stopping! But Charles Barkley takes the cake for predictive accuracy and fun! He was swimming upstream against the current on AZ and then KY!

Your girls are simply lovely! Best shot is the pair peering through the railing! Cute!

I live amongst ABD folks and there was rejoicing when Dook was so soundly defeated. And even more when Carolina won, as my younger son is a UNC grad. I, personally, don't care but like to see those around me happy.

Always good to see those sweet Golden Gals. As to hoops... I've sworn off it for this year after the ignominous embarrarasing collapse of my once 19-4 Gophers. Grrrrr.

I've been away from the internet a lot lately so I was scanning your recent posts. This one forced me to comment! I am quite simply appalled that you would stoop to the level of being an ABD fan! And, to think, after Duke went home, we graciously rooted for UNC... I don't know... I might have to boycott your blog :)

That last photo of the girls is simply wonderful. I'd like to cuddle up with them.
