LIFE'S BETTER IN THE MOUNTAINS

Fridays are Golden

Our Lucy can sleep in almost any position.  We have seen her fall asleep using all sorts of items for pillows, even the hard stone hearth.  Every now and then she puts here entire head under a chair leaving a headless body outside.

I have no idea what makes this comfortable for her.

How often I have wished I could sleep like this.  She seems totally relaxed.

And peaceful

We took another drive up the Blue Ridge Parkway yesterday looking for color.

We found some.

We are in the midst of autumn.  The leaves are not at peak but still beautiful.  We're having sunny days and cold nights and are totally enjoying the season.  In the words of Longfellow, "O what a glory doth this world put on..."

I hope that you are enjoying the glory around you.  Slow down a bit and embrace the season.  Do something nice for someone else.  And then do something nice for yourself.

HAVE A WONDERFUL WEEKEND EVERYONE!

Hey! I rely on your blog to let me know that it is Friday! You need to get your "Fridays Are Golden" heading up there so that I don't get confused and come in to work tomorrow!

Happy Golden Friday! (It IS Friday, right?)

There is something about fall weather that is truly glorious. Absolutely love it.

I wish I could sleep like your Lucy or my kitty cat Bonsai. They do have the most enviable slumbers.

Hi there, You always make me smile when I see your pups and Lucy is adorable as always. Your fall color is gorgeous; I do miss the vibrant colors we had in Ca.
Have a wonderful weekend.

Wish we could sleep and relax as easily as dogs can!!!! ha ha .... You did find some pretty color. We're going to be at Maggie Valley next week with friends --so I hope we'll see some color while we are there.
Hugs,

I think Lucy has a denning instinct. The leaves on the East Coast are always so spectacular!

Wonderful post. I love Goldies so much. We had one for 17 years. We always said she was a person in a dog suit. She will always be in my heart. Yours reminds me of her a lot. Thanks.

It's just so relaxing to see how relaxed your golden girls are! Love the fall colors photos! Have a great week-end!

I love your girls. We always joke that someone needs to figure what makes dogs sleep so well and use it as a remedy for us humans who don't sleep as well!

I love the red leaves! That's one thing that I miss from the east... The rich reds are missing out here.

You have a wonderful weekend too!

Lucy must have a very clear conscience to be so peaceful-looking in her sleep.
I hope you're having a great weekend and are enjoying the color.

I wish that I could sleep like that too! When do you think "peak" will be?

Hi Carolyn,
Thanks so much for your visit!!
Our weather is warm around 80 in the day and cool at night, about 40degrees. Just prefect!!! Of course we don't have much color being in Florida but we are really enjoying this beautiful weather!!
Lucy is pretty sleeping away the time, I wish I could!!
Do come again.

PS: You so right. Life IS better in the mountains. Yours are beautiful; I am from PA and I miss the East in the fall. My mountains are lovely too but they have big scars from being clear-cut by loggers and their evergreen fir and pine trees pretty much never change their hue. The Tamarack will soon turn bright yellow, though; we had our first hard frost last night. That's about it for our fall color. Whoopie!

I think we were on the BRP the same day as you were. We were there on 10/13 and 10/14. When we entered the parkway on Wed, from the north, the colors were there, but muted and beginning to change, but on Thur, we were at the higher elevations and the colors were peak, but the wind and rain had stripped about half the leaves off the trees. When we drove east from Hendersonville on Friday, the trees at those lower elevations were about 90% green. We were at the BRP thanks to YOU!
