LIFE'S BETTER IN THE MOUNTAINS

Fridays are Golden

Our Lucy loves to have a pillow.  That's why she especially likes her plush bed with bolsters.  She frequently shares a bed with Ellie in order to use Ellie for a pillow.  Sometimes she selects pillows that look rather uncomfortable.

Here she is lying with Ellie, but apparently decided to use the chair rung for her pillow.  You figure.

A pair of shoes will do in a pinch.  If you take off your shoes, as we often do, Lucy will use them for pillows.  Sometimes I have to vacuum dog hairs from inside my husband's shoes.  She seems to prefer his shoes to mine.

Here we are in October already.  Every year I dread the first day of October because one of my neighbors puts out a giant smiley-face pumpkin near her mailbox.  It's the first thing I see as I pull out of our driveway.  Don't know why I hate it so much.  I might as well get used to it.  I'll have to live with it until mid-November!

The great Louis Armstrong was once asked how he could keep singing about a wonderful world what with wars all over, hunger, and pollution.  He responded:  "Well, how about listening to old Pops for a minute.  Seems to me, it ain't the world that's so bad but what we're doin' to it.  And all I'm saying is, see, what a wonderful world it would be if only we'd give it a chance.  Love, baby, love.  That's the secret, yeah.  If lots more of us loved each other, we'd solve lots more problems.  And then this world would be better.  That's wha' ol' Pops keeps saying."

HAVE A WONDERFUL WEEKEND EVERYONE!

That Louis Armstrong quote offers words to live by and goes well if you consider that the dogs are using what they have available and making the best of it. Even a chair rail as a pillow seems to work.

That ol' Pops was right! Interesting that Ellie can even use a chair rung for a pillow and not need to go to the chiropractor after that! Ouch!

We need to hear more of the likes of Louis Armstrong.

The story of the pumpkin cracked me up. I have a visual in my head, but am not sure if it matches up to the real deal. You should post a pic for us to see! :)

HELLO! I've thought about you this week and wondered if you were getting lots of rain in your neck of the woods--We had pouring rain yesterday, but today was a perfect fall day!

We have a couple of dogs that feel that a pillow is a 'must have' and one in particular loves my feet!

Enjoy your weekend!!

Lucy is adorable.... What wonderful pillows she chooses.... Poor girl..Buy her a 'real' pillow.... (But --she probably wouldn't use it, would she? ha)

Have a wonderful weekend.

I love Louis Armstrong's answer.
And I am with you on the neighbors decor...ughhh.
Love your girls. Our Ozzie loves a pillow too...but in our case, the pillow is on the couch. Next time, I go with your route on training.
Have a great weekend!

Our neighbors had their halloween decorations up in the middle of September (yes, with those big inflatable pumpkins!). We are ready to side with Ellie and stay inside and snooze until they take them down again.

Cute girls -- our dogs find odd head rests too.

I love the quote, and I always love the golden girls. Our dogs need pillows too!

Isn't it funny how little stuff gets to us like the smiley face pumpkin. For me, it's my family's frenzy about Christmas that is already starting. I turn into the Grinch more and more as the start of the frenzy begins earlier each year...

Louis had a lot of wisdom.
Funny to see shoes as a pillow, but I guess they're comfortable in a pinch.
Love your header scene. The mountains are looking good.

I don't see how Lucy could possibly be comfortable using that chair rung for a pillow, but what do I know?
I really do like Louis Armstrong's philosophy. More of us need to practice it.

Love, love, love these photos, Carolyn! And I love how you paired Louis Armstrong with a giant smiley-face pumpkin!

Thanks for your comments, everyone.

Madi - I think they would make room for you.

Kim - We got some steady perfect rain, not at all like the flooding in the eastern part of the state.

Betsy - Oh, I do love my neighbor. It's her tacky pumpkin I can't stand. Or her cement frogs for that matter. Oh, and the cartoon plastic lighted reindeer.

Sam - at least we don't have any of the inflatable ones yet. You are worse off than I.

KB - You are so right. I don't know if it's really the pumpkin or the knowledge that it's coming. And if she just wouldn't put it so close to the street!
