LIFE'S BETTER IN THE MOUNTAINS

Fridays are Golden

Finally the new beds for the great room arrived. Lucy and Ellie check them out even before we get them out of the car.

Lucy always manages the first good look at anything.

Ellie approaches more tentatively but is quite interested.

Once the beds are inside, the girls closely examine each of them.

Lucy tries one out.

At the end of the day, in the waning sunlight they once again are sharing the same bed. Ellie is partially off the bed so that Lucy can be more comfortable using Ellie for her pillow.

It's going to be very difficult, but this weekend I am going to try to be more like our dogs. I will be grateful for any attention I receive. I will not worry about what tomorrow might bring but will find joy in living today. I will appreciate whatever food I have. I will give unconditional love to those around me.

Why should that be difficult? Because my mind is filled with anger at those who would try to make themselves newsworthy at the expense of so many others. Because I am angry at those who are so intolerant of other people. Because my mind is filled with memories of that day nine years ago. And frightened at how that day brought so much change for our country and our people. That day changed us beyond our wildest imagination and altered the course of history. It won't be easy, but for this weekend I will try to keep all those disturbing thoughts from my mind. I hope you can as well.

HAVE A SAFE AND WONDERFUL WEEKEND, EVERYONE!

Glad your doggies got their new beds... Now keep 'other dogs' from using them as a potty!!!! ha

I agree... This weekend is a hard one for our country. This year it may be worse due to them wanting to build that mosque at Ground Zero. Yes--they have a 'right' to do it --but they really shouldn't do it, out of respect. Because of this, they are causing alot of unrest -with stupid things happening, that shouldn't EVER happen. Nobody should EVER be burning Korans or Bibles or anything that is sacred to others... Nuff said.

Have a good weekend--and PRAY hard for our country.
Hugs,
Betsy

Ahwwwww those girls are the sweetest! I got my brood a new bed yesterday that they can all fit on together. :)

I try to not stress over the things I really CAN'T do anything about. The news media will scare you to death if you let them!I'm a believer that GOOD comes out of everything. I agree totally with Betsy !! XO

I assume that you are referring to the issue of the planned Koran burning...I like ot think of a quote by Gandhi.

"When I despair, I remember that all through history the ways of truth and love have always won. There have been tyrants, and murderers, and for a time they can seem invincible, but in the end they always fall. Think of it--always."

Your dogs are beautiful. I think it's sweet that they still sleep on the same bed. ;-)

I appreciate your comments about this weekend. I saw an interesting quote on Facebook this morning:

"Fighting about religion is like children arguing about who's imaginary friend is the strongest"

Not that I consider God/religion 'imaginary', I don't. But I like the quote comparing it to children fighting over something they don't even understand.

I second Nancy K: these girls are so beautiful! Thanks for sharing them with us. I also shake my head at how often adults act like children over so many issues. We should instead act like Goldies! Of course then we would fight over who gets to be Lucy :-D Please know that I understand completely your feelings. It will be a tough weekend, but here's hoping it will be a good one. Love will overcome a multitude of sins, this I believe.

Caroline, we could all live better if we did as your Doggies. (they look adorable in the sunlight snoozing)
I am just sick of the media bringing idiots out into the open...if no one paid him any attention, then he would be an idiot quietly.
Wishing you a peaceful weekend with your family.
Enjoy (our) your wine.

Those sweet, sweet girls are adorable!

I too share your sentiments. This weekend I plan on trying to focus on the positive, love and enjoy my family and friends, pray for our country and all of those who lives were forever changed on 09/11.

Have a great weekend!

It's been waaaay too long - love the way the girls like to sleep on one bed - always!!! I heartily applaud your ambitious plans for tomorrow, as there are a lot of nuts out there who love attention, GET IT (why? don't know...), and proceed to make a lot of people mad. These are the sorts of things that inflame and/or cause wars in the first place. But you have my admiration and I will try to do likewise - I'm inspired.

Hugs xoxoxo

If we all lived life by the philosophy of dogs, the world would be a better place, imho...

Bark less, wag more..
Have a great weekend.

I hope the girls are enjoying their new bed (or at least one of them).
Tomorrow is going to be a difficult day. Jesus said we should love one another -- it's too bad some Christians have forgotten about that. Come to think of it, I don't know of any religion that considers loving others a bad thing.

I, too, am trying to focus on the good this weekend. Ellie and Lucy always help me with that kind of focus.

Love the new beds-but your two are so adorable snuggling together.
Try to rest and relax this weekend, such a sad reminder of the terror that occurred.
Hugs to you.

I love Toni's 'Bark less; Wag more!

And I agree -- these are difficult days. I hate to see our country becoming more and more intolerant -- forgetting that freedom of religion doesn't just apply to Christians.

All religions talk a good line when it comes to peace . . . but all fall short when tested.

Those look like comfy bed - and yet the beautiful golden girls still love to share one! What a beautiful sight!

This is definitely as Betsy and George have said - a time to pray and a time to love! God is still in control and I need to trust that He knows, He cares, He loves.

For us as a family we have a grandson who will turn 13 tomorrow - forever having his birthday tied to 9-11.

Glad your girls liked their new beds, and like you, hope the insanity stops soon.

I agree about "Life's better in the mountains" in your banner!

The girls are so wonderful with how they love to be close together. What cute photos they make for you.

I agree with your last paragraph... All that I can say is that at least we have president who is willing to stand up against intolerance and the headline-mongering haters. All that each of us can do is live a good life as an example to others.

How many beds do those girls have now?

I know what you mean... that a man whose daughter says he's become deranged, who has a mail order doctor of divinity degree... can manipulate a sensationalist press and, in effect, yell FIRE! in a crowded theater and say he's doing God's will.

Bad pug! LOL
I totally agree with you about the changes of 9-11.
But I like the way you planned to spend your weekend!
