LIFE'S BETTER IN THE MOUNTAINS

Fridays are Even More Golden

With a big "Thank You" to the powers that be, and an even bigger "Thank You" for all your kind words and thoughts, we are all safely home. The emergency over, we are looking to a rather long but complete recovery. The girls love their pet sitter, but they are delighted to have the whole family together again.

With kitchen stools to protect the injured player, the Golden Girls come as close as they can to get some affection and give support.

Lucy quickly established herself under the footrest of the recliner. She considers this her own little den.

I don't care so much for these light-weight covers. Would you put the quilt back?

Thanks, I'll lie here and make certain everyone is safe.
Yes, Lucy. I can see how alert and protective you are.

And lookee here! It's snowing! Dang...I was FINALLY going to get my hair cut today!

So we approach a rather different Christmas this year. For the first time we will have an artificial tree which is still in a box in the garage. Too many gifts were ordered Online. But you know what? After an unbelievable year of surprising and totally unexpected health problems we are all just fine. We look forward to having our children home and it will be (as always) the best Christmas ever. And the daylight hours begin to increase on Tuesday morning!
WHATEVER HOLIDAY YOU ARE CELEBRATING, I HOPE IT IS A WONDERFUL ONE. KEEP A LOVING SPIRIT AND THINK KINDLY OF YOUR FELLOW MAN.

Hi Carolyn, I'm glad you're safely back and looking forward to Christmas (even with a little snow!). That guard dog looks ferocious! I sure wouldn't want to approach the recliner... Heal and rest.

Love the picture of Lucy under the quilt! So glad the emergency is past -- and of course it will be the best Christmas ever -- even if that tree never gets out of the box. We keep Christmas in our hearts, first of all.

I was so happy to see your blog reappear at the top of my list. I actually thought to myself this morning, "I really hope that this Friday is indeed Golden for NCMountainWoman". It seems that it is Golden - you're back home, in recovery phase, and enjoying being together. I'm relieved.

Who cares about artificial trees or presents? Not me and I think not you. Just having health, family, and love is plenty!

Good news indeed Carolyn. At the home hearth, surrounded by family, friends and two golden girls, life at Christmas should be good. :)

Hurray--you are back. I know that is hardly original--most everyone above me is also cheering.
But we did miss you.
I love the photos of the dogs being so protective. They can now work their special healing powers.
Do have the best Christmas ever.

Glad you are home safe. Christmas is about so much more than trees and presents, and we are thinking you are going to have an excellent Christmas simply because of some of the challenges this year.

Hope that "little" snow stayed that way for you. We are buried up here. Shrug - at least it happened on a weekend where I can enjoy it with The Herd.

I hope the patient continues to improve. . . and may you have a good hair week despite the cancelled appointment.

Hope the kids don't have a weather delay--you all could use a group hug!

I miss our Golden, Alex. She was 13 when she passed 2 Christmases ago. Many other furbabies are in our lives and life is sweet. Still doesn't replace the fond memories of a sweet- spirited golden retriever whom we loved dearly.

I guess I missed something. But I am glad things are going well!
Your snow is beautiful. The only snow we got was melted when it arrived.
