LIFE'S BETTER IN THE MOUNTAINS

Fridays are Golden

We haven't seen much sunshine this week. We have had intermittent thunderstorms and heavy fog most of the week. You cannot imagine how strange it is to look out and see fog banks where you know mountains exist. The weather has been cooler than normal and that is just fine with our two dogs. They love awakening to cool air, even if it is humid and misty.

Here Ellie runs down the driveway. A much more typical sight than the Bobcat we saw earlier in the week.

There are two dogs in this photograph. Ellie is following so closely behind Lucy that it's difficult to tell there are actually two of them.

There is always a little good-natured morning sparring between the two.

Lucy may be bowing, but her tail is straight up in the air.

The game over, Lucy comes over to see what I am doing.

Ellie sits with a contented smile. Let's go get something to eat, shall we?

On this date, our minds drift to the tragic events of September 11, 2001. We continue to remember the lives lost on that date and pray for those left behind to mourn them.
---------------------This September 11, let us pledge to be better citizens of our country. To be more respectful of the opinions of those with whom we disagree and to work for the common good. And if our elected Congressmen and women cannot do the same, let's remove them in the next election and replace them with people who really do represent us.
HAVE A WONDERFUL WEEKEND!

Great Post NC! I am in with your pledge...it's all about communicating with our congressman and women. If they can't take ten minutes to email or write us back on our questions they should get the boot...I think they forget they work for us.

Sometimes it looks like they are really going at it, but it's just a little bit of roughhousing. It seems that is universal to all pet pairs.

Even with clouds and fog, the setting appears idyllic. I've missed the mountains, but I'll be fixing that in two weeks when I go to Charlottesville. We're going to spend a little time a bit further south where my Granny was born, in Pedlar Mills, VA. Can't wait.

I always write my representatives. I'm saddened by the loss of decorum, respect and manners of late and hope that fences can be mended. Soon.

Thanks for sharing your 9/11 thoughts. I am in greement with you. If we could all remember how we felt on the first morning after the tragedy, then maybe we would recogonize why it is important to be unified.

We are so looking forward to Saturday, where the forecasts are for sunny skies and NO RAIN! We got over an inch of rain at the house just yesterday.

Oh, well, guess it is better than the drought last year.

Days like today really give us pause, Carolyn. Why CAN'T we all just get along??? We are all unique and different. There needs to be common ground and understanding among us. 9/11/01 BROUGHT us all together--but unfortunately, that didn't last. Congress is out-of-touch as to what the American people want. They are ONLY in it to get re-elected. I hope we vote them ALL out of office. Ha!!!!

Love your Goldens... They love to 'play' with each other, don't they???? Hope the Bobcat doesn't come back when the girls are outside...

God Bless those who lost loved ones on 9/11 and God Bless the USA.
Hugs,
Betsy

I'll take the pledge. It'll be difficult for me, however, as I get so worked up when people whose views differ radically from mine say things that I know to be just plain ignorant and hateful. This is the real challenge: how to remain calm and rational in the midst of craziness!

....your dogs are so sweet! I bet the bobcat doesn't venture near when they are out and playing. Great message at the end of your post.

I love all your shots of your girls frolicking---they always look so joyful. And, by the way, your bobcat shots were amazing. We had one come to our backyard last year and I posted about it on my blog, but my pictures weren't as good as yours. But seeing the bobcat was a spiritual experience I'll never forget.

I really appreciated your thoughts on 9/11. Amen.

Thanks everyone. I think all of us grieve the loss of decorum in our hallowed halls and the absolute lack of respect among our elected officials.

Miley - You are so right...our dogs do bring sunshine no matter what the weather.

Super Mamma - I certainly contacted my own Representative and Senators. I have tried to email the infamous Wilson for days. His Web page was down for several days and now that it is up it does not allow for email.

Rudee - I love that area of Virginia. It's another beautiful state.
