LIFE'S BETTER IN THE MOUNTAINS

Fridays are Golden

We recently bought a new bird art piece for the yard. After getting her settled, we brought out the Golden Girls to have a look. Lucy had been particularly bratty all day. Ellie would be sleeping quietly and Lucy would grab a tug toy and keep pushing it in her face. Or Ellie would be carrying a couple of tennis balls in her mouth and Lucy would walk up beside her and grab one for no reason.

Ellie was ready for some revenge...always, in her case, served cold.

Just as soon as they were outside, Ellie jumped right in. Lucy clearly realizes that she is in for it.

Lucy runs in one direction and Ellie follows in hot pursuit.

Lucy changes directions, but Ellie is having none of it.

Lucy makes a feeble attempt to be the aggressor, but that is short-lived.

Ellie is clearly in charge of this fracus.

Fortunately for Lucy, they spied the new bird, so they stopped to inspect it.

Their response was rather ho-hum. "Oh, they got another thing for the yard." After a very brief look, they were no long interested.

We came inside and they took one of their favorite spots under my husband's desk. Lucy was less bratty for the rest of the day.

Summer is truly winding down. Fewer hours of daylight are becoming more noticable. The leaves are looking less bright and shiny. Let's enjoy every minute of summer we have left.
Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!

I have certainly noticed the shorter days - it is dark when I get up in the morning now! Nice to see Ellie putting her paw down!

Oh those crazy Goldens... I love watching them. That was funny --the comment about their response to the new 'thing' in the yard!!!!!

I've noticed the shorter days... It's getting darker at nights here, which surprises me almost every evening...

FALL is coming --one of these days!!! Yeah!
Hugs,
Betsy

I just love Fridays are Golden - the girls are such a treat.

I'm always ambivalent about fall. I don't tolerate heat very well, so I like when it's cooler. And the trees are gorgeous - but they make me sad, just a little. Like an aging actress who still looks magnificent, but won't ever return to her glory days...

Can you tell I'm a present moment person? After fall & winter comes spring & the actress is young again...

I hope Ellie doesn't act smug because Lucy looks like she's hatching a plan in that last photo.

They're so pretty and your bird. . . funny character, indeed! Is that an Akita tail on him? :) Have you named him?

Happy weekend. You're not missing anything at the beach--it's pouring rain, streets are flooded.

Your golden girls are adorable. There is nothing like a nice nap after some rough housing in the yard! I like your new bird art for the yard as well!!

There is a definite chill in the air in Detroit. From 90 to 60--just like that. Our 2 week summer is over.

Your story of the bird art reminds me of my Dukealicious Dog. We used to walk past a cement deer once or twice a week. It took a month of doing this before the dog would stop barking at the interloper.

It's nice they have each other to play and get out those "orney" feelings! lol.
It's hard to believe it is August..seems we were just waiting for spring to arrive.. :(

The thing about dogs.....tomorrow, Lucy will have forgotten the revenge and start all over again.

Way to go Ellie. Natasha says those brats have to be put into their place every now and then.

It's amazing what a little bit of exercise will do for stopping brattiness! I love the action photos of the two girls playing. Have a great weekend!

What a wonderful story you told with words and pictures! I love your new bird and I love your goldens. Seeing them makes me yearn to have a dog again. Or maybe two. :-)

I loved this posting about Ellie and Lucy. They are such beautiful dogs. It's so much fun to watch dogs play. Yes, the days are getting shorter, fall is slipping into the Blue Ridge Mountains. Summer is almost over and we need to enjoy every moment we have left. Thanks for visiting my blog. Have a great weekend.

Your golden girls are so cute, and it's fun to see them playing together!

Even though summer is winding down it is still very very hot here. It will be a relief when fall settles in.

Thanks for your comments.

Lynne and Dog Geek - Yes, Ellie waits until they are outside and then proves to Lucy who is really in charge.

Bug - I think there's a bit of "in the present" for all of us. My husband really looks forward to fall and winter with the cooler weather.

Barb and Suz - Their disagreements are indeed settled quite easily and soon forgotten. Ellie will tolerate a lot of Lucy's brattiness inside, but she takes her down once they are outdoors.

Mary Lee - Sorry it's raining on your beach. Bummer.

Herd - Ellie agrees with Natasha, and it has to be repeated all the time.

KB - Yes, it had been rainy and they hadn't gotten as much exercise as usual. That really brings out the bratty behavior in Lucy.
