My Backyard

I showed some views from our deck. Perhaps you might be interested in other points in our backyard. We are fortunate to have a little creek with its associated fun things to observe.

It's a small creek, so the water flow varies with the rains. It is quite low now.
Along the creek, deer have used our backyard as a passage to other places. They made their own path.

The deer path continues along the entire width of our land, following the creek.

Some felled trees were turned into little benches and sit invitingly by the creek. The creek is surrounded by old growth mountain laurel and rhododendren so it is always cool.

We even have a table and chair if you would care to have a snack or do some work. Unfortunately, the wonders of nature around you and the soft gurgle of the creek tend to be quite a distraction, so we don't do anything serious down by the creek. The reason for being there is the quiet and peaceful nature of the woods and the creek. Our neighbors' grandsons think it's a perfect spot for a peanut butter and jelly sandwich picnic. When they visit they always want to come play in our backyard.

No matter how tired, depressed, angry (insert your own bad feeling) you may be, a walk down to the creek and five minutes there is refreshing. Wish I'd had such a place when I was working 60-hour weeks. I'm glad I have it now.

I understand. My pond relieves stress but I'd love to sit by the creek under the trees. What a wonderful place! Thanks for letting us visit. It's beautiful.
