LIFE'S BETTER IN THE MOUNTAINS

Fridays are Golden

Golden Retrievers seem to have instinctive thermostats that shut them down when the temperature is warmer than 80 degrees. These active sporting dogs become floor potatoes (they aren't allowed on the couch) and position themselves under an air conditioner vent.

Lucy chooses the rug at the top of the stairs.
"It's not at all hard to pretend to be asleep."
Ellie selects a spot just outside the sunshine.
"Gosh, darn. That sunbeam is gaining on me. I may have to get up and move."

If you are in the midst of a drought, I wish rain for you. If you are in the mid-west floods, I wish sunshine. And wherever you are, I wish you a safe and happy weekend.

Pretty puppy! My dogs are pretty sluggish these days also. Do you live in the Great Smoky Mountains?! I've been trying to schedule a vacation there for two years now but family situations have postponed that dream. I'm hoping maybe hubby and I can get there in August for our anniversary, slim chance of finding accomodations though.

Gosh, when it hits the upper 80s and into the 90s I'm just like your Goldens! I want to vegetate and get near cool air!!
Sweet post! I can tell you love your pups very much!!

Our recent heat wave is difficult to take because we are not acclimatized to it. Our daughter is visiting from Mexico. In the area she lives, it is often above 100F. We are hot, and she is wearing a sweater! Dogs don't have a choice when it comes to their fur coats though.

It doesn't take but a few minutes out there in the heat for both of my dogs to come inside and drop on the kitchen floor. Sprawled out.

Michele - We are in the Blue Ridge Mountains, very near the Great Smokies. Nearly half of our county is National or State Forest.

Kerri - Thanks, yes we do enjoy those girls a lot.

Ruth - Actually, I saw a woman wearing a sweater just yesterday. You are right...it's all relative.

Mary - Sometimes the girls plop on the tile floor in the foyer downstairs before coming up.
